Class C conversion from 30amp to 50 amp
I have a 2018 Jayco Redhawk 26xd class C. Has anyone decided to upgrade the 30 amp input system to a 50 amp supply? Other than the new 50 amp power cord, transfer switch, possible inverter, additional main 50 amp power panel, re- doing some existing loads what would I need to do? Tired of having the comfort of a 50 amp system (previous class A Monaco) I would like to not have to worry about various appiiances and manage my load requirements. Please advise, short of "i should have kept my Monaco class A would be appreciated!

The input receptacle on the side of the rv would have to be changed to a 3 pole 4 wire receptacle (L1, L2, Neutral, Ground), along with changing the conductors from that receptacle to the panel to #6 AWG.
Also, if you have a 30 AMP EMS/surge protection, that will have to be replaced.
You will want to put some thought in how you split the loads.
For example, 1 air conditioner on L1, and the other on L2. HWT on L1 and the Microwave on L2 etc.

It is very possible to do..
1. On board genny will have limited use after conversion..
2. You can bring in 50A ti a split panel, Run you normal 30A as is.. Then movr you concerned loads to a subpanel but there will be limited EMS..
3, Do some research , And take the time to actually Gut the 30A / EMS and ADD a 50A from scratch.. still genny will be a limited use or a custom design..

Other than the new 50 amp power cord, transfer switch, possible inverter, additional main 50 amp power panel,
New 50A Receptacle or connection for 50A Cord
#6 wiring (4 wires) from connection point to ATS to New 50A Panel
Cord/connection easy to do
New ATS and New Main Panel easy to do
Pulling FOUR #6 wires throughout RV........?????
Not so easy to do
Gen would still supply same watt/amps as it does now
*Same existing wiring from gen to ATS
Have a 50A 5th wheel
Used 30A sites many times....just swap fridge/water heater to Propane
Simple........
What can you not run now with 30A?

Gen set produces 1 leg of 30A, 50A RV produces 2 legs of 50A
Many things must change... way different electrically..
If you only grab one leg of the 50A , you can make it similar to the 30A..
