Class C levelers
Looking at a Forest River Sunseeker 2850, which is equipped with hydraulic levelers. A nice option. My only concern is ground clearance. Anyone have experience with levelers bottoming out on speed bumps, steep driveways, etc?
Thanks.

I have a Coachmen Concord with the big foot system. I have never had a problem. I will say I would never have a unit without some type. Had a 5er with the lippert system also never had a problem with them in 5 years.

This has the Lippert system. Also a technician ( not the salesman) at the dealer, National Indoor Rv Center, says he can’t recall ever having an issue. He was honest about some other issues with the coach, not trying to give a hard sell, so I tended to believe him.

The only answer to your question that makes sense is, "it depends".
Roadway shape, speed, additional suspension hardware, angle of attack, cargo weight added, the list goes on for what affects whether anything will bottom out in any situation.
If you try hard enough, you can probably bottom out just about any vehicle, or attached piece of hardware underneath it.

Our coachmen came with the same system. No problems, we use pads under them and they perform well. Glad we have the levelers.

How do you like your RV. Do you find it big enough for extended stays? I know I shouldn't high jack. Do you have the Chevy or FORD chassis?

under ordinary conditions, the leveling systems will not bottom out. they are designed to have clearance except in the most extreme circumstances.
whether its hwh, bigfoot, lippert, etc, they all meet rvia standards.
yeah, if you try hard enough, you can make it happen. my fix for that is simple. "dont do that"

Some driveway connections at the curb may be off camber not all speed bumps are created equal, and after a few bumps you will be a great judge of when to tread lightly.

I was worried about with my 26DS Leprechaun. Coming up on two years and 25,000 miles with no issues.
I wish they were mounted right next to the axels, though.

i have a Power gear system on my 2017 Jayco Greyhawk. I felt the factory set them a tad low at 5 inches. I moved them all up 1 inch to have 6 inches, and it just looks safer to me.

I like ours very much. We spend six months in it. It’s a Ford.

I might mention: mine is the hydraulic Bigfoot. Overall effective but even after calibration often wants to lift one or more wheels and sometimes doesn’t achieve level. It seems to do its thing in a funky order causing it to lift higher than needed. In those cases I can usually do better manually. Somtimes, if the surface is really unlevel, I need to put blocks under the feet and/or put up with one or two wheels off the ground.
