Pros and cons to both, I've had two travel trailers, two Class C and now have a Class A. Trailers are good for family camping, but now with just the two of us we prefer mohos. Of course, then you need a car to tow behind the moho or you're stuck at the campground. I found a used PT Cruiser toad for $2k (complete with tow bar and Brake Buddy) that took care of that issue. If you already have the truck for towing, a trailer is an inexpensive way to get a taste of RV life.

We started off with a 26ft TT because that is what we could safely tow with our GMC Yukon XL with the full tow package.
We had it for three years and enjoyed it, but it got to the point where my arthritis made it more and more difficult to hook up an unhook, specifically with the weight distribution hitch spring bars.
We decided to look for a 5th wheel that had all the automatic gizmos for setting up, realizing we would also have to trade the Yukon in on a Pickup truck.
While looking, we came across a slightly used (1068 miles) 32ft bunkhouse class C at a very reasonable price.
After driving it we were sold on this being the way to go so we traded the TT in on the class C. The Yukon was almost paid off, so we sold it and had money left over for the toad.
We have not regretted the change.

Little pain in the back , but manageable.I like Mercedes Sprinter based class Cs.

Got a TT, then a FW, and last five years a Class C. Will not go back to either one. The self leveling system is great, push a button and wait a couple minutes.

I’ve had a 45 foot toy hauler towed by a freight liner sports chassis. I hated it. I now own a Newmar Dutch Star and have no regrets and won’t go back. My theory is your vacation starts once you poll out of the drive with a diesel pusher. If you plan on going somewhere and staying put for a week or two the trailer may be for you. Otherwise I would go with a diesel pusher. Great and easy driving machine and no noise with the engine in the back.

We are struggling with that very issue.

We are ready to buy and are having a terrible time making a decision and Im a decision maker.

My issues:

1. Cost: Buying the RV is the cheap part. My HOA does not allow RVs, so I have to pay $50 a month for parking or $250+ covered parking. No covered parking available in my area right now. My thought is that if I cant afford to park it under cover, I cant afford to own it. I figure cost of ownership if I never use it one day is an additional 4k a year for storage, insurance, maintenance, registration.

2. We want the versatility and lower cost of a TT, but I hate towing a trailer.

3. My wife likes a C, she is intimidated by the high seating and handling characteristics of an A, but the C is a bit to confined for extended trips for us and two dogs.

4. I like an A, but if I want to stay in a hotel I may as well get a room and let them worry about all the other stuff.

We plan on a 60-ish day trip every summer, then X-mas in the Keys, occasional use otherwise. No fulltime.

After 4 TTs, one 5er, 1 C and 1A the C or A gets the nod. If DW wants to get something to drink or eat, go to the bathroom or even take a nap, we don't have to find a place to pull over. It is really handy having everything right there in the coach. Right now we have one 25' TT for hunting camp and one 37' Class A that we will sell when we find a new Class C for downsizing.

When you downsize to your new C, what size are you considering?

Friends had one and got rid of it because repair/servicing isn't everywhere. They usually had to go into a bigger city to find someone. This is important if you want to travel and enjoy all those wonderful national parks in the boonies.

We are actually wanting a Super C with 4x4. Looked at Dynamax Isata 5 but the passenger seat was almost impossible to gracefully get out of and into the coach. We will probably buy the Nexus Rebel 30R. It is 4x4 and has a 15K towing capacity. It also has larger fuel tank, fresh water tank and both black and grey tank capacity compared to the other 30' Cs that I checked out. We actually put a deposit down on a Rebel but the dealer had some real problems and never even ordered the coach so 2 1/2 months later we are trying to get our deposit back so we can try again. I emailed Nexus describing my frustration in trying to buy one, thinking nothing would come of it. Surprisingly, 10 minutes later I got a phone call from one of the Nexus owners. Had quite a good discussion, that is what I call real customer service.

Don't have the nexus. Had a real problem with the dealer who took my deposit and two and a half months later had not even ordered the coach. Finally got my deposit back and with all the parts shortages and long delay getting coaches, I am wondering whether this is the right time to order. We want some specif things in the coach so finding one on a lot is not an option. The old Allegro Bus may have to carry the load for another year.

The one thing that is missing from the discussion is "how will you use what you choose"?

TT give you a lot of real estate (living area) for a reasonable price. Assuming you have a truck to pull it. Set up takes quite a while and considerable effort. Many TT are not equipped with a gen. so only battery electric when not hooked up. Add a gen to the equation you will pay a decent amount of money for one that work quietly or a Harbor Freight that will keep an entire campsite/walmart awake at night.

RV makes it easy to pull in and setup and close up and roll out in the AM.

Neither are perfect for everything you may want to do. Therefore for me, if you're going to travel and stay at a campsite for extended periods a TT gives you lots of room at a reasonable cost. If however you plan on doing lots of travel with only a day or two at anyone place the convenience of a RV with built in Gen (and auto stabilizers for me) make setting up camp as simple as parking and pushing a few buttons.

Price, cost, value is certainly something that is arguable and I think it depends also on everyone's budget.

I have a C and when researching prior to purchasing mine I found that the TT came out less expensive but I had to add the purchase price of a truck since I don't own one. For me the daily setup and tear down was what justified my choice to go with an RV.
