I currently have a Class C Jayco MV 2017 . It is powered by a Ford v-10 .
I was thinking about buying a 36 foot class A with the same motor.
And I worried about being under powered .
Has anyone down this and your thoughts.

The v10 f53 has plenty of power.
I drove a 2004 35 footer for 2 years and it was fine.

The V10 in a class A has more then in the C. Different heads and more HP and torque!

The one thing I don't like about our V10 A is the noise and the harsh ride they have. Try to test drive some like we did the second time around before you pull the trigger. I wish we would've the first time around but live and learn I guess.

I suspect your performance will be similar, perhaps the Class A will be a little less because of the additional weight, AND depending on the year (less than 2006)

The class A may have a higher differential ratio to counteract the extra weight.

The better breathing, 3 valve per cylinder, engine plus the different gear ratio may lower the MPG a bit but the power should be comparable.

Ford has specs listed for all if its chassis.

Your best bet is to take it out for a test ride and see if it meets your expectations . I like lots of hp , but have driven may vehicles that were under powered and they still got me to where I was going.

If you want a class A, buy one, you’ll love the extra room! If it’s gas, expect similar performance and mileage. Unless you step up to a DP, it is what it is. The engine noise in ours doesn’t bother me as much as the road/wind noise. Trying to reduce that is going to be my winter project. Once you decide on a floor plan, a really, really long thorough test drive is your friend.
