Converter compatible with AGM battery?
OK you electric-heads out there. Anyone know if this converter is compatible with an AGM battery?

It will but to do it properly you need an IQ4 plugged into it for the smart charger capabilities.
Plus, 30 amp is pretty small unless you have a small camper and only one battery. A 45 or 55 amp would be a better choice for longevity.
By the time you go there (an IQ4 is only about $20) and a 55 amp is onl $10-$15 more than a 30 amp.
Quick edit. It says it comes with the IQ4 but make sure.

I do only have one battery.. but may add more along the line.
I'll do the upgrade you suggested. Do you think Iota is a good one or do you suggest another?

The biggest issue is size. Think about it. You fridge circuit board and fans may draw 5 amps, each light you turn on 1-2, then if you need to run the furnace 15? Plus a gps, and other 12 v gadgets. Doesn’t leave much to charge a battery with. And then it’s running at maximum capacity all the time. Power converters are cheap, when you can buy them at home and install yourself. Expensive if it goes out on a trip and you run to CW and then install it in the campground. I try and go with one that’s twice what I can possibly draw, then there’s some left for the batteries.
This might be a better choice. It has the IQ4 built in.

Personally I like Progressive Dynamics. But I’ve had both. About the same results.

Pretty sure AGM has same charger specs as standard wet FLA? Many sealed automotive batteries are AGM, I think?

I've replaced the bulbs with led's. There's about 10 of them on this class c 22'.
Makes somewhat of a dif on battery draw. Thinking of getting a solar panel as well so as not to run the generator (quiet) very much. Minnesota so don't need AC very often.
Thanks for your insight.

I converted my 2000 rig to LED on coach, and have not heard cooling fan run but once, since, that being after operating both slides a few times. BEFORE CONVERSION TO LED, CONVERTER COOLING FAN would kick on high w/ 1-2 lights after 1 minute.

What year is your rig? I just switched to AGM and discovered that my present system is OK for them. We have a 2018 Coachmen.

I'm pretty sure that FLA and AGM charge profiles are a little different, otherwise my battery charger wouldn't have different profiles for them. It's not that it won't work it's just that it's not optimal. Here's a little information to check out: https://deepcyclebatterystore.com/do...looded-vs-gel/
Good luck.

That link is surprising to me.
Anything I have seen between FLA and AGM charging the biggest difference was In the float cycle not bulk / absorption.
I do not have immediate response details with links etc but will do a little digging.

Here is one resource I turned up with a quick search but it confirms my prior comment that AGM bulk charging can be much higher that that stated in the link
AGM batteries are designed for use with AGM battery chargers with a MAXIMUM output voltage of 2.4 volts per cell(14.4v for 12v batteries and 19.2v for 16v batteries). AT NO TIME during charging should the battery be subjected to more than 2.4 volts per cell.

CAUTION! PLEASE READ! - XS Power
Above is more inline with FLA bulk/absorption vs the 13.7 referenced in the link.
Here is another reference that shows AGM charging profiles SLIGHTLY lower V than FLA (its only a few tenths of a V difference)
