Cooper tires

2007 JAYCO MELBOURNE.WITH COOPER LT225/75R16 115Q DISCOVERER H/T BLK TIRES 6 NEW.
I RUN THE AIR PRESURE AT 65 FRONT AND 80 REAR COLD.

ON A RECENT TRIP IN FLORIDA ON THE TURN PIKE I HAD A TREAD SEPARATION ON THE RIGHT REAR INNER TIRE. MIND YOU THE TREAD CAME COMPLY OFF AND THE CARCUS WAS STILL ON THE RIM FULL OF AIR. I CONTACTED COOPER AND THEY WERE NOT ANY HELP . THE TIRES BY DATE CODE WERE 2 YRS OLD AND HAD 14000 MILES ON THEM.

IS THIS A NORMAL FOR COOPER TIRES?

I think that's what truckers call a gator tail. LOL. Is 65 front 80 rear what the manufacturer recommends. Or did you weigh the RV and that's what Cooper recommends. Seems odd that there is such a difference in PSI, but don't know much about Class Cs. I was not aware that brand new tires could do the gator tail thing. I though it could only happen when they are retreaded?

I would make sure you weigh your MH and then check the specs on the rear duals. My C weighs 12,000 as it sits now and my specs call for 60 front and 65 rear duals based on weight. I think 80 is too high. JMHO

Look at the 3 other tires on the rear. Do they look like they are wearing out in the middle more than on the outside? That's usually a tell-tale sign that they are over inflated.

Are those load rating "E" tires? We put Cooper "E" rated tires on our class c and they've been great. We're running 10500# dry and less than 12500# fully loaded.

65 /80 is what it calls for on the tire sticker for max load 14050 gvwr duel wheels

The other 3 tires look ok on the rear and the fronts are good

Yes these tire are e rated.
I am going to the local pilot and weigh the motor home ..i might have it over loaded????

I would keep trying to resolve it with Cooper. Could you imagine if that happened to one of the front tires?

I have the same on the rear my rear weight I a little over 8100 I run 68 psi that said these are made in the Elderado plant ( Google) have had no problems yet I would look closely in between the thread for cracks

being a veteran 43 yr trucker o/o the thrown tread is simply called a gator and they are mostly always off new tires BECAUSE they are run underinflated.i never lost a retread on a radial casing but did once on bias ply tire when I was a rookie. hope this sheds a little light on your tire knowledge. safe trips everyone
