Cruise control suddenly quit
While out on a trip I started out on the road and when I tried to engage the cruise control and it was dead. No light on dash came on to indicate cruise on. I cant seem to find a fuse for this puppy. Its on a 2000 winnebago itasca spirit E450 super duty. Anybody have an answer??

There is a possibility that brake light switch needs adjusting. While driving above 30mph, use your toe to pull brake pedal toward you, then see if CC activates. If so, adjust brake light switch which is below upper arm of brake pedal. Just a shot in the dark, but worked on our 2004 Allegro Bay any years ago.

Replace the switch screwed into the end of the master cylinder.
It's called the Cruise Control Cancel Switch.
While out under the hood, make sure there are 2, 2 amp fuses in that switch wire harness. If the recall is done, fuses and a big warning lable will be there.

Many Fords of that era near that had RECALLS related to cruise control and BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH, FLUID LEAKS, short, FIRE risk; the first recall added a INLINE FUSE, (under hood) and 2nd, replaced the new harness with another harness that moved the inline fuse to proper location to kill power and eliminate FIRE RISK.

No, the cruise control cancel switch is hydraulic.
The brake light switch is mechanical and on the pedal linkage.

I have a 2001 Itasca Sundancer. E450
When I got in the cruise control didn't work. The problem was the switch on the master cylinder. Its an easy fix. Screw it out, screw new one in. Connect wire. Easy peazy.

cruise control
I did find the switch on the master cylinder however in the videos on you tube its mounted on the top of the cylinder and mine is on the side near the bottom. How much brake fluid will i lose removing it from that location. Anyone changed one located there?

I have, pick up the new one before swapping the old one out.
I did it that way and only lost a drop or 2 of brake fluid.
Did you find and check the 2 fuses ?

Keep the top on tight, place rags underneath, and quickly swap them.
For the daring like me, I would take advantage of the situation and let all the fluid drain out (assuming it will), then replenish with fresh fluid, in hopes to remove a lot of settled impurities including jelled fluid from accumulated moisture.

i don't remember any fluid coming out. I didn't have to bleed the brakes either after changing it.
Just have the new part on hand
disconnect the wire, screw out the old, screw in the new, reconnect and your done. 5 minuet job
Now that I think about it, I also changed the brake pedal switch at the same time ( RV was new to me so I just did both ) so I can't say for sure which part was at fault. But cruise control did work after I changed them .
