Dead cluster in early series ford E450 super duty.

My instrument cluster and other things have gone dead twice on my 2006 E450 SD. I think the first thing to happen was when I installed a new battery. The second thing was when I removed the negative connection. Took it to a Ford delearship and it cost lots of money and did not work. Never, ever take an electrical problem to a dealer.

I have researched it for hours and found many things to cause this. A bad relay, a short in the gear selector, etc.

If you have had this problem, i would sure love to here your experience.

I have exactly the same problem. I disconnected the battery and since I connected it again, my cluster shows nothing bu battery light and airbag. It wont crank nor start, I have the u0155 code (no com with cluster). Did many tests, it all points to cluster and or PATS. Have you found the solution?

From back when I used to help rebuild old muscle cars, I remember dealing with a number of businesses (well, more like "guys") who did nothing but rebuild old dash clusters. They would redo yours, or they also usually had a selection of units they had junkyard-rescued and rebuilt for sale.

Don't know if something as recent as a 2006 would be fixable, but might be worth a try. Go to some car-restoration sites and search for "cluster". You can get some business names that way, and call them and ask.

Anti theft

I took the cluster for repair. They looked at it, they said it looks fine, did the restoration theu usually do but said that they doubted it was the root of the problem. It looks more like an anti-theft that needs to be reseted.

If anybody aware of something on that matter, please let me know.
