Diesel chassis C

Not talking about a Mercedes Sprinter or a Super C, but a shorter C on a diesel chassis such as the F-450/550 or equivalent. Something in the upper 20's foot range? Does it exist?

Not sure who the problem is here. Maybe Ford isn’t supplying the F450 diesel in a cutaway or the RV manufacturers are not ordering any.

I think they still make ambulances with these cutaways, so I think it’s the RV manufactures.

And Ford makes a 550 chassis cab with up to 205" WB. A Mercedes Sprinter is 140-177" so the 550 COULD have a nice sized C without huge overhang common to many C.

The 2020 Ford F550 Regular Cab chassis (not a Cutaway) is available with the 6.7-liter V8 Turbo Diesel in wheelbases of 145", 169", 193", and 205". So a short Super C could be built on one but I've not seen one offered. You would probably need to go the custom route to have one.

For a C you'd actually be talking about a E series cutaway, not an F series cab and chassis.

A couple of coach builders used a Chevy Kodiak 5500 chassis with a 6.6 Duramax diesel. There are also a few built on Ford F550 chassis with a 6.7. Both are more of a Super C, not as common as the average class C, selling at a premium as compared to gas and over 30 feet.

Just not much of a demand for midsize class C built on a diesel chassis. A bit like a front engine diesel class A. Cool idea until the potential buyer see the price difference when compared to a gasoline chassis.

Winnebago offered the diesel in the E450 for a few years in the early 2000's. Every once in a while you'll see a used one with the option, but they sure didn't build many.

Offered in the 24F floorplan. Not in the Minnie Winnie at all. Looks like it was only 2004 and 2005 too.

The diesel option was pretty heavy. Payload capacity is at a premium in most Class C's, using it up on a diesel engine option didn't make much sense.

Not as short as OP wants, but the Renegade Veracruz, 35', is on the F550 cutaway

Since I haven't seen any in the length I was asking about it may be the RV version of a unicorn. I'll have to revisit a Sprinter chassis or go the gas route. I agree and understand about the diesel weight and lack of cargo capacity. Pickups are a prime example. But in the pickup arena, towing power is the goal, not necessarily increasing CC. Thanks for the replies.

There are Class C RVs mounted on Ford Transit chassis, and at least some of those are diesel. Our 2018 Winnebago Fuse is one of those, but Winnebago seems to have dropped the Ford Transit chassis for their RVs in favor of Mercedes Sprinters, but other manufacturers are still using the Ford Transit. I am pretty sure that Leisure Travel Vans and Thor use the transit chassis although I believe that the Thor Compass/Gemini are gas versions.

Leisure Travel Vans offered a E-450 chassis with the Ford diesel engine in 2020 for their Wonder RVs and then discontinued it the following year and went to gas only.

In 2020? Nope. Wonder has always been on a Ford Transit chassis, not the E-450

You could look for a Dynamax Isata 5. They are based on a Ram 5500 Chasis with a Cumins. I believe they are about 31’ overall which is close to your specs.
