Different year chassis than motor home
We are looking to purchase a 2007 Class C. I plugged in the VIN number and a 2018 Ford E450 came up. I told the dealer and he said that's the Ford Chassis which is and the motor home as the whole unit is a 2019 Model. Is this weird?

The only thing weird is you stated it's a 2007 Class C. I assume that's a typo.
Other than that, it is very common for the chassis/engine to be older than the model year of the coach itself. Standard procedure to buy chassis, have them stored and available to have the coach constructed. All manufacturers do it.

There’s a typo going on here somewhere.
It’s ABSOLUTELY possible to have a 2018 Ford E450 (motor) under a listed 2019 Class C (home).
The listing of 2007 Class C is a serious typo.
10 years or more difference?
Seriously?

My Chassis is 2007, my MH is 2008 and I bought it in 2007. Happens all the time.

Well, then it's the advertiser's typo, not yours.

OK, scratching my...........head....!
Price on a 2007 Class C and a 2018/2019 have to be SO different that they can't be confused!

chassis older than reg year
I just purchased a 2021 Sunseeker 2380ftd and the chassis is a 2018. The MH had 858 miles on it when I picked it up in Alabama, and the Ford warranty started on 5/31/21 the day I picked it up. That was the last year they offered the power stroke 5 deisel.I was told they will be back in 22 for $14,000 more.

One year difference is common, two years or even three was not uncommon after the 2008 economic collapse. Companies got stuck with chassis' and they sat for a long time till they finally built them into coaches.
The year on the chassis is the chassis mfg model year for the incomplete vehicle, the year actually assigned to the completed vehicle is what is assigned by the coach maker.

As others have said, this is common practice.
The IMPORTANT THING is to make sure your Department of Motor Vehicles properly registers the completed vehicle so that the registration shows the proper model year. IF they mistakenly use the chassis year model, it may affect your resale value. If they give you a hard time, contact the DOT. They can provide you with the law on registration of completed vehicles.

No, very common for chassis to be a year earlier than the coach, my 2000 floorplan is on a 99 chassis; believe I even read some Class-A owners say can be 2-yrs apart? Problem I see is state registration goes by VIN date, so really not sure of effect on resale/ depreciation? But Often that maybe only $500 anyway, which can be offset by condition/ accessories? For mine, the published tank sizes are larger on the 2000, but often feel it has the smaller 99 tanks, LOL

Called a split model year. Causes lots of confusion. The Motorhome is supposed to be registered by the model year as given on the MSO and nothing else. Some states don't always follow the Federal rules though.

I have a 2008 Win View coach mounted on a 2007 Dodge Sprinter chassis that was assembled in 2006. And their was a problem with 50 States handling of the PA broker's registration dates that delayed the ultimate titling in SC.
