Does this seem like a scam to you??

Low miles. Low price. I’m suspicious. What do you think?

2000 Ford Jayco. $12,000

Me: Hi .is this still available? How many miles are on it? Any water or roof damage? Thanks

Them: It did have water damage my friend but I fixed it I am a roofer so it doesn’t anymore it’s a cheap motorhome. 19,000 miles from new

Me: Hmm. Sounds like a scam to me.

Them: The less I would take is $10,500 your more then welcome to come and view it is not a scam lol

From that short exchange, not reasonable to tell.

Clearly, seller is not articulate. Doesn't mean the RV isn't.

If you have a link to the listing, that would give us more info.

And, if not too far from you, go see it. Verify that the title is in seller's name.

I would also remove the gas cap and SMELL. We are seeing a number of "it hasn't been run in XX years coaches for sale" in the current buying frenzy.

Not familiar with the RV and what you posted isn't that specific. A quick look showed 2000 Ford Jacco ranging from mid-$20K to $15K, depending on model and condition.

The one you ask about may not be that far off if it's a lower value unit to begin with and it has suffered some water damage and repair. Overall, however, several red flags.

It can't hurt to "take him up" on the offer to see the vehicle, or have someone else check it out. If it's a scam, that is when the scammers tend to disappear or make their move to require a cash deposit. If that happens, time to run away.

yep go check it out and really look at it, make sure what works and not works, lift and open every door, rug, compartment....

The seller can be one of those guys that sell any thing and play possum,, just feed you , lead you,, Or they have no real clue and are dumping it...

I got a low miles, Cheap unit,, 3 seasons ago.. 1996 Winnebago, <29k miles, Clean, loaded with accessories... pd less than 7K.. long story and I am a RV savy guy.. Still dumped that much into it in 2 years,,plus buyer beware... LOL

The only real red flag I see is "I am a roofer...". This NOT translate into someone experienced in methods of repairing/replacing the different types of roofs RV's can have. Not a single one of which I can think of a person experienced in residential roofing would have had any experience with.

I have to admit that I am now curious as to what exactly he did. I'm picturing half a bucket of tar poured on it or something. It's possible he did something competent and professional though. Maybe. Take ladder with you.
