Door Lock and lost key problem.
It seems that I have lost the keys for my door on my 1996 Four Winds. The locksmith wants a ton of money to make keys. Any suggestions? I thought about drilling them out and just replacing the whole assembly. Are the door latch assemblies fairly standard?
Thanks for the help.

Depending on what lock set you have you can buy a new lock set with keys for anywhere from $50-$100

X2 on new lock set . Amazon Prime is your friend.
Locksmiths have priced themselves off my service list .
When disassembling the lock set take plenty of photos for reference when doing the new installation.

I just went through this with my LA. I contacted Newmar and they sent a Master Key to my nearest dealer. They in turn unlocked my MH. The the cost $18.
You might have the same luck.

Depending on style/ age of your paddle lock, replacement might be timely and wise, as broken latch bolts, unable to retract, lock you out or in and are a fairly common complaint

Take off the inside cover\handle. The key # may be on a sticker of the lock. You should be able to find the keys by number for 5-7$ on ebay.
From the look your lock appears to be made by Trimark.

I would check with Thor and find out what the make is of the door locks. If you give them the VIN they may even have the lock number but that's a wild stretch. That will give you a starting point for a replacement key or lock. There are not many variants to typical RV doors and keys so having the key number, as said might be on inside of the assembly, you can order a replacement from amazon/ebay/other.
