I'm never on a time schedule while RVing. I cruise the right lane and enjoy the scenery, usually 60-65 mph

How come 80,000 lb. semi-trucks that safely travel 55 mph max (in CA) to 62 mph max (in some other states) aren't a traffic hazard, but me traveling in our Class C at 55-62 mph is a traffic hazard?

When I was in my 20's and had a sports car I didn't even drive it much over 65 mph. As such in around 63 years of driving I've been blessed with no chargeable accidents and I think only one ticket that was for a non-speeding infraction ... and looking back in my rearview mirror I haven't ever seen any accident(s) that had just played out behind me.

Slow down America .... Mother Earth and human health will love you for it.
Good lord man, you're lucky to be alive driving that slow in a sports car, what were you thinking.
Appears to me, the only irritated respondents on this thread are the go fast people. I'm so sorry. I used to get mildly irritated when someone was tailgating trying to push me down the road, then I realized they were far more irritated than I , and that my friends brings a smile to my face

62 mph for me, too. That's 1400 rpm on my N14 Cummins. And I use my cruise control whenever feasible. Result: best fuel mileage.

My brother and his wife own a 1998 Starflyte, built on an E350 with the 6.8L-V10. It's a tiny motorhome, 20ish feet and a 138" wheel base. My sister-in-law has a very heavy foot. My brother says that when conditions are right, she'll be cruising 80+ in the fast lane. She is turning 70 this year. I'd like to see the expression on a cop's face walking up to her to ask for papers.

Just spent 2 days driving from Akron Ohio to Perry, GA. Set the cruse to 62/63. Never had anyone honk or give me the finger. I flash my headlights as soon as it is safe for a truck to move back into the far right lane where I spend 90+% of my time. Many of the truckers signal a thanks.

10.5 mpg in my Class-C on Chevy 4500 gas chassis for the entire trip.

Only problems I ever have are when people enter the highway and wait till they are fully in the "slow lane" before they accelerate to the speed being driven by everyone else. Its like they are afraid to accelerate to match the speed of the other cars when they merge.

As a professional race car driver, I am not afraid to drive faster, but I am afraid to those that swerve in and out, passing on the right and left and most concerned with the people not willing to merge correctly.

I have a Newmar King Aire that is 45 ft long and a GVWR of 54000 lbs. It has multiple safety features like computerized steering assist and stability plus adaptive cruise control and several other things. It has large disc air brakes and an engine brake to stop it. I drive around the posted speed limit and it drives and handles better than my Toyota Camry. This RV is built for highway speeds however I didn't drive our V-10 Class C that fast because it didn't handle well at all. For those who say that don't get honked at or flipped off, try going that slow in NY state or Cleveland, Chicago, St Louise, or KC Metropolitan areas.

Doesn't that make gripping the steering wheel a challenge?

I just use my toes. Sometimes I get odd looks, particularly from LEOs, but they haven't stopped me yet...

As a lifetime NYer, they will flip you off for making a left turn, it has nothing to do with speed. We just wave back.
