For all you v10 owners, here is a great trick, if the engine has not run in a few weeks/months, before starting REMOVE THE FUEL PUMP RELAY, then crank for 10-15 seconds, then reinstall relay, this prevents the startup rattle for 5-7 seconds.

I should have included in my reply that I change my PC-2350 E350-V10 oil with full synthetic Pennzoil (or other lesser brand) just prior to our annual multi-week trip. Miles driven between oil changes is between 4000 and 6000 miles.

When changing oil this frequently, any lower cost 5W-20 SAE certified full synthetic oil will be just as effective. The owners manual specifies the use of conventional oil so going full synthetic is a nice upgrade for only a $1 per quart price increase.

My 2016 calls for 5w-30. I use the Motorcraft Synthetic Blend and Motorcraft filter. Really easy to change it yourself.

Hmmm ... I've never had a "startup rattle" when starting up my RV's V10 after it has been setting for several weeks. It has so far always started right up immediately if I've kept the chassis battery fully charged.

By the way where is this relay and how easy is it to get to?

Also, should I carry a spare one of these relays along -> because if the fuel pump or this relay ever fails when boondock camping way out there ... you're dead in the water and maybe a long way from help?

There are other relays you could swap with. Did that with my pickup to get home once.
I have 90000+ miles on mine and no noise from the engine.

Even easier, look in the manual, then pull the fuse for either the fuel pump or the relay.
