E 450 melbourne brake controller

2014 E450 Melbourne f28. Trying to install a brake controller but so far have not been able to locate the plug hopefully somewhere under the dash. I have looked behind the coin holder and no plug. Looking for suggestions and wonder if all 2014 E450 came from the factory with a pre wired brake controller plug? Removed the panel under the steering wheel and looked and looked thru the maze of wires. So far i have not been able to locate it. Thinking of sending my wife to look because every time i can't find something she goes, well it is right here in front of your eyes. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Try gaining access to the left of glove box. Look for a six pin plug having only the blue, black, red and white.

jimstem-

If memory serves, Ford changed to the newer connector, located behind the change cup, in the E-series 2016 model year.

For your 2014, connector is located to the left of the steering column, per Ford Bulletin Q-206 (link here).

I recommend you do not cut the Ford-supplied wires for any reason.

Ford supplies a pigtail to the motorhome manufacturer. It has a matching connector on one end and bare wires with labels on the other. If the manufacturer attached the pigtail, you'll find the labels. follow the wires upstream until you get to the connector, then detach the connector, take the pigtail to the bench, and splice your electric brake controller harness wires to the pigtail wires.

Or, if you are installing a Tekonsha controller of recent vintage, buy the Tekonsha adapter 3035-P (link here), and you won't have to do any splicing at all... plug-and-play. Very quick installation.
