e450 power mirrors.

Sometimes it will work, most times not. Driver side up and down work occasionally, left to right does not work. Move the switch for passenger side. Works up and down most of the time, left to right does not work. I am thinking it may be the switch. All wires are plugged in. Can't find the fuse but I doubt that is the problem.

Anyone else have this problem? What is the fix? New switch?

I see a part number on the back side of switch. It may not be a ford part.

Iíd maybe try a spray of Deoxit contact cleaner before replacing it.

Looks like the same Velvac Mirrors that I have, On the bottom of the arm, just below the mirror head, there should be a snap in plastic cover, pop it out and look for the wiring harness. gently pull it out until you see the connector that joins the mirror head to the wiring harness. Hopefully it is just a loose connector or loose wire in one part of it.

First off make sure there are no mud daubbers or wasp nests behind the mirrors, manually move the mirror left/right and up/down a couple of times to break up any mud/nests behind the mirrors. The switch is available at most parts stores, it's a ford switch. I have to high pressure wash the back sides of the mirrors monthly here in south texas( wasp or Hornets nest).

I'll check into that. Do your mirrors move in and out? I seem to remember mine used to. The switch has 4 arrows on it.

Mine move in 4 directions. I had the dirt dauber problem mentioned above on a similar set of mirrors.

I am looking for a new control switch like in post #1. Cant seem to find one. If anyone knows where I may purchase a switch with the four arrows I would appreciate your help.

Thank you for all your ideas. I found a whole unit new stock plastic molded piece with mirror switch and heater switch for $25.00. Some others I had found were switch only for $60.00+.

I tried popping the cover off the bottom of the mirror arm. I gave up because I was afraid I would break it. It was acting like it had a screw or something holding it in place. I wish I could figure out what was stuck. Really wanted to check the wires to the motor.

If you access the switch can you deactivate the side camera this way? On another post I discussed how I dont like the side cameras and would rather be able to see behind me when making a left or right turn to make sure I dont get an"arse full of rad" (old canadian relatives term).....

I did not see any camera wires in that area. My cameras are lower and behind the cab doors so the wires probably run along the floor sill.
