In the fall of 2016, we "winged" a trip (no reservations) to the New England states for a fall color tour. We primarily focused in the Mount Washington loop drive area. There is a Walmart in a town on the northern central portion of that loop drive that we spend a couple nights in times of transition. Most of our camping was in secondary camp grounds that required a little more driving, so we utilized our tow vehicle very nicely.
We got to the area and the colors were not yet ready, so we continued east to Acadia NP for 5 days. When we returned it was a big bowl of Skittles. It was a very nice trip.
Funny, when we first got to the area, the word on the street was that it would be a bad year for fall colors. They were wrong.
Too bad about the Old Man rock formation. Nothing physical lasts forever here on planet Earth.
