First RV

Long time lurker ... Great forum... Not sure if this is proper forum for this question so my apologies if it should be moved to another forum.

Starting my search for an RV - Renegade Verona or similar.

Plan is to travel during the summer months (June-Oct) - then keep it in the Florida Keys for the winter.

I have driven trucks in the Military and trailer large boats regularly - so not concerned with the size.

Would you jump right in or start with something less expensive?

Thanks guys ..

THe best answer is to go with your (and your partner's) intuition. My wife and I purchased a 10 year old one owner CLass A. We looked at Other types but given our height and love of space we went larger. No regrets.

Best of luck in your search. And remember, what feels comfy on the lot may change after 3 rainy days!

What do you have to have in it-----how many people----How much are you willing to spend? Price, people, and what you have to have.

thanks guys ...

sorry - that info would have helped...

Would just be the wife and I ....

When it's parked in the Keys we will probably have another couple or the kids -but not often ...

No animals - just a jeep/Bronco toad and our mountain bikes ...

We will most likely be chasing cold weather (Miami horrible in summer) so my guess is we will be around CO/WY/MT most of the time and probably Maine as well...

Our other direction would be a HD pick up and Airstream for first 2 years and then move up from there? but thinking just dive right in and get what I really want...

Price - would like to be under 400k ... and will purchased slightly used ...

Needs - Trying to figure that out now .. Any advice appreciated

I really like the Explorer - but not sure I want to spend that much $$$

Thanks again - Much appreciated !!

Just wondering if you've taken into consideration the ride / noise difference between a Truck Chassis front Diesel vs a Class A Diesel Pusher ? Traveling from Florida to Maine ( we've done it yearly for 8 yrs ) or Colorado ( done that too ) are long road trips and the full air ride pusher is much different then any of the Freightliner Cabs and Please don't misunderstand I don't dislike them just pointing out the difference !

Good Luck in your search and ENJOY !

thank you and good advice .....

As a boat and sport car owner - the first and most important thing for me is if it appeals to me visually.. I am a form over function guy ... I know. it should be the other way around but "I am who I am"

The large C's fit that bill .... I need to look back at it when I walk away with a smile ..

So I will sacrifice some space and deal with the additional noise to satisfy my primal needs

I totally understand and we've looked at Super C's over the years because I do my own maintenance . You can't beat the folding forward hood and ease of access ! Again GOOD LUCK the search is fun .

Jump Right In!

I'm a 'jump right in' kind of person. I bought my first RV without ever having driven one or even been camping. But I grew up on sailboats with many of the same systems, and I did a lot of reading. I'm now on my third RV...it did take me a while to figure out what I really needed and wanted in a coach. I understand your need to 'feel good' when you look at your coach. I'm the same way. I had to 'settle' with my current RV. I'm not crazy about the look of the cabover but I love the interior, so I live with it.

One suggestion: Take a hard look at the Dynamax Super C models. Their quality is on par with Renegade and I've been very pleased with my Dynamax.

Good luck and happy camping!

Keep this in-mind. If you plan to travel in and stay in national parks and monuments, a rig like that will be very limited as to where it can go and what campgrounds will work. For people who want to utilize such places, 30 feet is generally the limit, but shorter yet, is better yet.

If your plans are to travel from one RV park to another, a Super C like that will do fine.

This coach was our first. I figured it had to be better than a good hotel or we would not use it and also wanted it big enough for us to use for extended trips. We did know enough about ourselves to get a floor plan that works well for us.
