Ford 6.8L V10 2nd idler pulley installation

I know there is extensive info on this forum relative to the 2nd idler pulley installation to hopefully eliminate the " valve lifter, heat shield, low octane" type engine rattle on acceleration on the Ford 6.8L V10 newer engines without the 2nd idler pulley installed. I am getting ready to order the 2nd idler pulley and without rehashing this whole subject am just looking for quick feedback from those that made the mod and if over time the elimination (or lack thereof) of the metallic rattling sound is holding up? Thanks.

Helped a lot, but did not eliminate it entirely.

Not to hijack, but what is the exact part number and/or a link to the pulley. I have looked into it, but have not been able to pinpoint exactly the part. I too would like to add one to help with my belt squeal.

Bolt: https://www.ebay.com/itm/255759057449

Pulley: https://www.ebay.com/itm/124109137327

These are on ebay. Make sure you buy the smooth pulley.

I ordered mine through Summit Racing. You can also order most parts through Rock Auto, I have used them in the past. The part number for my 2017 E-450 was 1L2Z-8678-AB. They have to special order so it may be faster through Rock Auto. Rock Auto part number is 89006 and cost me about 23.00

Also possible there are bearing issues w/ some accessory; mine was also a failing, floppy water pump revealed in weekly run.

Just to share, I added the second pulley inDec of 2020, about 12k miles ago. C. Completely eliminated the valvetap noise.

My old post on the other forum from Jan ‘21… I ordered from Lakeland Ford. Originally had the wrong pan and they corrected based on my VIN:

Just to share, I ordered the pulley and bolt, and this is the email I just received. I have a 2019 Entegra Odyssey, equivalent to the Greyhawk/Red Hawk with the E450 chassis. As they have checked the part against my VIN, I'm requesting they change as recommended.

This message from Lakeland Ford Online Parts is intended for XXX in regards to order #123456.
Your order has been updated as follows:

We appreciate your purchase with us!
Unfortunately, the part ordered does not correspond to the provided VIN number.
The part ordered: F65Z8678AAA
The VIN correct part: 1L2Z8678AD
The price difference of these parts is: $8.57
An invoice for these charges can be sent upon approval.
The order can be filled as is, however parts that are not VIN matched will not likely fit the vehicle properly and will not be eligible for return.

when I had a low RPM rattle it turned out to be the bearings on my AC clutch. Once I took the belt off it was obvious that the clutch was shot. Easy to fix. Got part on amazon.
