Ford Chassis Warranty
We downsized from our Class A pusher last year to a Class C on a Ford E450 chassis. Like the way it handles and performs, but, on our trip coming home from Yellowstone this month it developed a brake problem. I think the problem is in Ford's HydroMax system. The issue I'm having is that I can't find a Ford dealer that will work on it. In talking with the dealers in our area they all tell me the same thing; "Ford dealers have quit working on motorhomes." So in essence I have no warranty as Ford requires all warranty work to be performed at a Ford dealer.

Try contacting Ford for truck service centers near you.
800-444-3311
Have your VIN handy.
Good luck.

You need to call Ford and explain the situation. There are truck centers that work on MHs but may not be real close to your home.
You could ask a local RV dealer where they send their Ford's.

I did call that number and after 45 minutes they gave up and apologized. The nearest truck center was well over 130 miles from me. Looks like I get to pay for it myself.

Look in your Ford owner's manual. There should be a phone number for an area representative that can act on your behalf. And probably an ombudsman above that person. Call the Customer Service number you spoke to before, tell them you want to go above them to speak to the senior area rep for warranty service.
To prevent a lemon law return - even though in most all states lemon laws don't apply to motorhomes - they probably are setup to make a warranty fix happen to keep from getting in trouble with your state's Attorney General.
Also, since you're in Sparta, Missouri, you might try Republic Ford in Republic MO. They are the Ford Commercial truck dealership 30 miles from you.
Service Dept. (844) 439-7465
Tell 'em you have a E450 and see if they'll take you in. If they baulk tell 'em Ford Customer Service said they could provide warranty service for your E450 (Class C) Rv.

If there was a shop near you that will diagnose the issue and do the work, maybe Ford would relax their "Ford shop only" for warranty work position? If you got the local shop to speak to the right people at Ford before proceeding?
Also, and it probably won't make your problem any easier to deal with, but you're not alone having trouble finding Ford shops that will work on your motorhome. It's been that way for some folks for years, based on the number of forum threads about it. I had trouble finding a shop near me to change the oil in my Sunstar 26HE with the F53 chassis. It was only 26.5' long and about the same width as a class C, but a little taller, and heavier, and it was the size that caused most Ford shops to shrug their shoulders and say sorry, no can do. Had to go to a truck stop along our trip route, to get it done, as I'm not a DIYer. It was our first and last trip in that RV.
Here's a list of new and old threads by people in similar situations to yours, and there may be one or two ideas in them that might help.

It's not just Sprinters that can be difficult finding service centers that will work on them. I'm lucky that I have a MB dealer/shop that's totally comfortable working on my Navion, that's only 60 miles away. It was recommended by our RV dealer, and someone suggested asking your motorhome dealer where they send their Ford based units. Gotta take the good with a little bit of the bad sometimes?
Good luck with it.

If you do decide you have a lemon and your state has no lemon law for RVs , you can then get ahold of a lemon law lawyer that does the Magnuson-Moss FEDERAL Lemon Law cases . I had to do that with a obvious lemon , new BMW R1200RT motorcycle that wasn't covered by Michigan lemon laws . I won the cost of a new engine & ECM + lawyer costs . Keep All documentation you can get to back you up . ( Federal court realized BMW & dealer was lying to them , because of my documentation / proof of defects & dates WHEN ! )

It is a brake issue. Twice on our trip back to Missouri from Cody, WY I lost brakes. Once when coming to a stop light after letting the engine idle to slow down, when I went for the brake it went all the way to the floor. Luckily people took notice and we avoided an accident. Immediately after I had brakes. The following day we were waiting in line to fuel, when it was our turn I started idling forward when the guy in front stopped suddenly and I went for the brake again and it went to the floor. I found a Ford dealer about 60 miles away that will work on it. So far they have not been able to duplicate the issue.

Just to ask, have you checked the brake fluid level since you encountered the issue? ~CA
