Number 1 , you dont have to drop a 4k onan to change the control board, number2, it's a pretty simple start circuit, for the money you spent they better come to you.

Exactly,, what he said..

Also you mentioned or I did the solenoid/starter relay,, this will exhibit, the nothing sound, no click.... it would have been breeze to change, from onan maybe $40 , online or autoparts, $10 , Laboe 10 minutes if you can use a wrench and a socket...

GOOD LUCK,, please let us know...

I suspect that they finally got your gen working and you just have a battery problem now. It's possible something didn't get hooked up but I'd start with batteries.
Did you try the boost switch?
Can you check for battery voltage at the gen?
Did you try both start buttons? (remote and at the gen)

Update

Rv shop came and picked it up this morning. Put the generator on computer check and they tracked to the new control board being bad. They had used a company out of California to get the board. It was about half the cost of onan control board. They tracked to a bad pin on the control board. Number 2. This may have been a refurbished board. I’m not sure. Long story short they are sending a new board and due to reconfiguring the position of the board they can change it without dropping the genny. If this gets repaired and up and running again it is going to refresh my belief in Santa Claus

Final update

Here we go
Finally got the generator repaired. Say jalapeño!!
The first control board was bad. So had to wait until the item was shipped back to California from Indiana. The shop got the new replacement yesterday and put it in today. Works like a brand new one. We are ready to hit the road. Gas is cheap. Couldn’t be a better time to go ... except still under this lockdown. In Indiana. Guess we will drive around the block a few times and then camp in the driveway.

Jeff,

The most important thing for you to do now is to find a new RV mechanic. The reason is your current one is wasting you money. Let me list what they have done:

1. Wrongly said the on/off/start switch is bad.

2. They said can jump the switch to get it to run but then they said the coil is bad. How can one jump the switch to start the generator with a bad coil ? This cost you money for dropping the Onan.

3. If the genset crank and will not start or starts and then stopped, Check to see if the control module is causing the genset not to run, remove the control module, jump 12v to the fuel pump and the solenoid at the bottom of the Carb ( the fuel cut-off solenoid ). Then use a wire to applied 12V to the starter solenoid. If the engine now runs, you can say there may be a problem with the control module.

4. You don't need to drop the Genset to remove the Electronic module, It can be removed from the front. Quote " due to reconfiguring the position of the board they can change it without dropping the genny " This is a whole load of BS. You CANNOT move the module to anywhere else. A " tongue " of the module has to be inserted to a slot and there are two screws to secure the module at the front. The BS is to make you feel better for paying them $300 to drop the genset.
