The water heater does not have a thermocouple, but does use an electronic sensor that is part of the igniter that sends a signal to the control board that a flame is present. If that igniter probe is not properly in the flame, if there is a poor connection from the igniter to the control board, if the igniter is bad, if there is faulty wiring, or if the control board is wet (as suggested) or faulty, the main burner will shut down, as you describe.
Since the burner comes on but shuts down in 10 seconds, you know the gas supply is good and the igniter spark function is good. What you don't know is if the igniter is in the flame or if the sensor is sending the signal to the control board. Start by observing the flame and the igniter position. Adjust if necessary. Follow by checking all electronic connections and wires from igniter to control board. Try drying control board, as described.
You mentioned this was in your daughter's "new" class C. If by "new" you mean band new, have the dealer look at this under warranty if the above does not fix the issue. If "new" mean just new to her and you cannot fix, a new control board or igniter may be in order.
