iPhone or stand alone GPS/Navigation Device?

As a noob RV owner I am wondering if a stand alone GPS would be a better option than my iPhone. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Both. The GPS will work in areas where there is no phone service, and the phone will provide lots of information other than navigation.

Howdy!

I use my iPhone in our Smart Car and my iPad in our TV. I like the large screen when towing. I use a app call Co-Pilot which I can in put height, weight, length etc of my RV. You download the maps to your device and after that you don’t need a data connection. Been using it for years fulltiming and it has kept us safe in our travels.

I agree with Slowmachine - Both.
A dedicated RV GPS takes info on the vehicle and helps keep you out of trouble. Usually. My phone gps has taken me, or might have taken me, down roads a 30 ft C shouldn't go. Frequently.
Both. Cross reference. Navigator checks alternate possibilities . . . Both.

If you’re using google maps, download offline maps for your trip when you have a good Internet connection. You’ll be able to use it even if you don’t have cell service.

The standalone RV GPS is still good to have. I use my Garmin RV770 for driving directions and my navigator uses the phone for detours and other planning.
