Is there a difference between models of Class C units with regard to insulation sold

I am new to the forum and was advised that northern Class Cvunitsbare better insulated than southern units. I will be buying my first Class C within the next 60 days. Thanks

Welcome to the forum.

There is no "northern vs southern" RV or insulation difference. For cold weather concerns, you want a "four season" unit. As to what "four season" class C coaches, I have no idea.

Whoever 'advised' you.....is sorely misinformed.

There are no northern vs southern MHs. There's no east vs west either.

Not such a thing. If you need a good insulation, these things are not made for cold temps. Go to Florida, Arizona, or south TX.

Clearly misinformation. On the other hand, some brands of Class C are better insulated than other brands. One must study the various brands to find R-ratings or the type and amount of insulation and construction. At the end of the day, it's not an easy project.

Even once you find the r-value data, it is very misleading. For example, the data is accurate regarding the specific wall board, ceiling or floor, in a specific location. That does Not include next to doors, windows, skylights, vents etc. And those things don’t have an revalue. I once took a temp reading on the inside aluminum window frame, it was 102 outside. The sun was hitting the window from the West. The inside temp of that frame was 140!
And I have a well built high quality, rig.
They just aren’t made for severe weather extremes.

At the very least look for dual pane windows, lost the dual pane windows when we downsized from a DP to a c lass c....love the c....for the deep south of texas you need 2 ac units and that is almost impossible find even on a 32 ft class c

Thanks for all the replies, this confirms what I thought. RV mfrs aren’t going to make different standards for areas of the country.

RV's are made to travel North, South, East and West. Why restrict them to only one area?

What To Look For When Window Shopping

Insulation in any motor home is very hard to inspect for. But there are other things you can visually identify and review.

1) are the above-floor storage compartment doors insulated?
2) do the house windows have thermal pane glass?
3) is the general design and quality of fit of the over-all house good?
4) is the fit and sealing of the main entry door any good?
5) review the specifications for exterior wall, floor, and ceiling construction

I know with Coachmen Leprechaun’s you can order an Artic package than includes dual pain windows and extra insulation, etc. I’m not sure if other manufacturers have the same options.
