Joining the class c owner ranks

Hi y'all,

I just commited to buying my first motorhome!!!! Although many friends seem to feel that I sould be commited to the local mental health hospital, I knew this forum understands.

On 3/14 I take possession of a brand new Coachmen Shasta Cynara 230F -- a new clone of the Forest River Forester. Sena, my 14 year old capuchin monkey-child, and I fly to Chicago so we can pick it up from Abel RV in Bartlett, IL. Then we will take 3-4 days to drive the 800 miles back to OK.

It will take 6-8 weeks to finish up my job as a personal assistant and then I officially retire and become a full-time RVer. For me this will be a monumental change of lifestyle. Since the age of 6, I have been somebody's caretaker -- my baby brother, husband (divorced long ago), daughter (now 35 and self-sufficient since age 19), my foster daughters (both had profound disabilities and are now deceased), and lastly my boss -- a busy and highly stressed female executive, her capuchin monkey (passed away 9/4/10), 2 cats, Morkie puppy, 6,000 sq ft house and 1 acre yard.

At times I feel some momentary guilt -- thinking only about myself, but it quickly passes. I'm looking forward to NOT having to be on-call 24/7, NOT being on someone else's schedule, NOT being the person who stays home with the baby, the monkey, the kids, the...

My first big trip will be to Rockport, TX where my brothers and I will scatter the ashes of our Dad and step-mom in the Aransas Bay -- where they fished for many, many years.

After that, I plan to start exploring this marvelous country. Hope to meet some of you out there.

Go forth and enjoy, sounds like you really earned it. There is only today, yesterday is history and tomorrow many never come.
