Leave Me Alone

I don't know if it is all the years in the Navy, or that I am just getting older.

I like to go to places where it is just me...no one around. I will be mingle with other people when I want! You can't make me!!!

I think your best strategy would be to find remote boondocking locations to camp. I would stay away from the traditional RVparks. I am not there yet. I like visiting with my neighbors and socializing with people.

Too much time standing "checks" can do that to you.

I can sympathize, I worked for years where I HAD to answer the phone when it rang ( which was constant ) now if it wasn't for communicating with family ; I wouldn't have one.

Most times my cell phone is somewhere out of hearing range ( with a dead battery ) if it's trouble , I don't need any ; if it's important they'll call back.

I do a lot of camping not too far away at various San Diego County parks, and they all have spaces that are fairly well separated. I often go alone, and I've found that people don't really mingle much anyway. Wouldn't bother me if someone came over to talk, I'm not antisocial. However I tend not to butt into anyone else's business, and I do like to get away on my own, and do some easy hikes just for the peace and quiet. However at the gas prices right now, almost $7 a gallon here, I think I have my peace and quiet at home, and with bike rides along the local beach path.

OP
Were you a submariner?
If so, I can see why you would want some privacy.
I just toured the one in Mobile, and that is something I could not handle..........

Mike in Colorado.

I use to think I was OK with no one around, and often would be for a time. But after Covid hit and we all started working from home, I realized how socially dependent I was. Yes, it took several months, but after a while I started going crazy.
