LED Tail Light Conversion
Has anyone replaced their incandescent taillights with the Bargman 84 series LED conversion assemblies ?
I was ready to buy when I read some reviews that the lights are failing after only 2-3 years of lite use .
For what the lights cost , and since most LED's have at least a 10,000 hr. life expectancy , I would have expected a much longer service life.
My incandescent bulbs are 10 years old and still working . I was hoping for brighter lights that would outlive me.
Should I spend the money , or save it for gas ?

I did on my 2007 Sunseeker for the reason that they were brighter. Did the stop/turn first then the tail lights. Got the best price on Amazon.

How do they upgrade the looks of your RV? They are covered by red lenses. You can't see them unless they are lit.

Yes , it sounds like the previous posters replaced the bulbs with LED bulbs and are using the existing light housings and lenses.
What I'm inquiring about are the Bargman 84 Series LED light assemblies. They are a sealed unit with 20 LED's and new lense that replaces the existing lense. The assemblies have a wire pigtail with a 1157 base that plugs into the existing fixture 1157 light socket.
It's a simple plug and play , but they cost about 10X the price of a single LED bulb.
With the Bargman LED light it's obvious the taillights are LED. Similar to how you can tell the late model cars are LED .

I can't speak to the reliability, but I did the conversion on a camper I sold last year. The biggest difference that I noticed was how fast the brake lights come on. They really get your attention. The lights are very bright to the rear, but perhaps not quite as visible to the side.
The main reason I made the change was to reduce the power consumption of the running lights. I'd already switched to LED clearance lights. I don't regret the change, and I was able to sell the old lights on Craigslist. The only disappointment with the lights was that the backup light was still incandescent. Not a big deal, I just wasn't expecting that.

The Bargman 84 withe 1157 pigtail is Bargman # 47-84-410
You can also buy the 42-86-101, which comes with a new single base, and three wires you attach to your existing wiring.
If you have a double or triple base housings, Bargman makes these as well.
For our RV I ordered two 42-86-101s.
The reverse lamps just received 1157 LED Bulbs.
Of course, if you are crazy, or creative, and have a Dremel, you can make custom lights, using Bargamn parts.
Bargman Side Marker mods.

4FGARY..if i knew how to post a photo on this site you'd see..the lens on the led tail lights are clear & as you stated OEM's are red..faded red over time..a 100% upgraded look! They're not cheap but 100% more light emitted on all functions of them..much safer!

Back to your original question. I replaced the complete lights on my Safari TREK 7-8 years ago with LED Bargman units, and they still work. I also replaced the tail lights on my car trailer with LED for the same reason; to increase brightness.
The recent adoption of clear lenses has a hidden meaning. Red dye/coloring is the most expensive so it's cheaper to have a clear outer lens and just red bulbs. Clear lenses can look "updated" and "new", yet at a lower cost to manufacturers . But, there's certainly nothing wrong with the concept on an older vehicle if you like the appearance

I replaced the taillights on my 2017 Four Winds 2 days ago. Look much better. Found them on amazon. Love them. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I tried to add pictures from my laptop, however it asks for a URL instead of letting me search and attach.

I tried replacing the 1157 lamps with LED replacements, in the original sockets. They caused the flasher to malfunction, so I took them back out.

Here is a thread on how to add photos and a link in post #3 to the Forum 101 instructions.
