Methods of Eliminating squeaks, creaks and groans

I'm interested in your methodology for finding the noises; squeaks, creaks, knocks and rattles in your Class C MH. I tried putting the DW in the back with post it flags and mark all the places she heard noises. She tired quickly when she realized how hard it was. I tried letting her drive while I did it but value my life too much to continue down that road....

How do you do it? I know they never all go away but I can get some of them.

Drive a car...

Sorry, couldn't help it.

Seriously though, there's not much you can do. Think of your coach as a "rolling earthquake". Sometimes you can isolate a specific noise to its source and do something about it, but really, not often.

About all you can do is:
  • make sure everything is closed and latched
  • put squares of rubberized shelf liner between all dishes, pots, etc. to keep them from rattling
  • windows closed tight, blinds all the way up
  • make sure everything stowed in the basement is retained

You'll get used to it. Remember the driving part is the price you pay to go someplace wonderful!

Regards,

Randy

Having the same issue trying to find a rattle around my entrance door, I decided to buy a cheap sound level meter. These are directional and can be purchased used on eBay for $20-100. I picked an old 1980's model for $29 with an analog meter and a microphone that extended a couple of inches out.(more directional) The newer ones have digital readout which sounds good but does not work well in quickly finding the peak noise spots. While the DW is driving over rough road, do a back and forth X pattern.

Did it work for us? Well, with Covid, our MH has been sitting in the barn, and the meter is waiting to be tested when we finally get out of Dodge.
