Need an explanation?

So I had this weird thing happen with my motorhome. I started my generator and none of my outlets would work. This has happened before, so I just go into the bathroom and reset my GFI outlet. It would not reset. I tried everything checked all of my breakers, flipped all of my breakers, and the main breaker, nothing would work. So I turned my generator off hooked it up to electric, came in, pushed the button on my GFI outlet, and it reset, and now everything works. Is there a reason why it would not reset with the generator on

GFCI will not reset if there is no power, so there is another problem causing no power to GFCI. Did you check the breakers ON the generator?

Did you check the breaker(s) on the generator? Depending on make/model of generator there are breakers for the output on it.

I did check for a breaker, but I could not find it. So after reading your guys' replies, I youtubed it and found where the breaker is and yes, that was my problem, I flipped it back to the on position and now everything works just fine. Thank you so much!

Auto transfer switch? Could be a loose connection or bad contacts. Easy to check.

Great. Easy and cheap repair.

Or they had a senior moment......

Without an integrated automated power transfer switch, they forgot to plug their external power cord into the 110V-30amp outlet located inside the power cord storage compartment.

His handle is Coachmen2308. Many Coachmen's are entry-level, hence no automated power transfer switch. They have to hook-up generator power manually.

Ah, I missed that reply.

Glad all is well after flipping the breaker located on the generator itself.

Just so others know (and yes, I saw where the OP found the CB inside the genny) here is a pic of the cord and plug setup my Winnebago View had. This is stupid simple, troublefree, all you gotta do is when you stow the shore cord, is by habit, always plug it into the generator outlet, Then its ready to use for your lunchtime roadside park stop or arrival at a no hookup campsite.

In the pic, the shore cord is plugged into an adapter and a lightweight extension in my shop, but you see the generator outlet you would plug into for genny power.

Charles

Our previous motorhome had the same design for power transfer.
By plugging the power cord into the generator outlet, it kept the prongs from getting dirty or bent. Win-win.
