I looked at those and didn’t like the size of the engine compared to the size of the coach. We settled on the Thor sf35. It has the Ford power stroke diesel. Love it and it has plenty of power. Get about 10 mpg pulling a Jeep Wrangler JK.

I just bought a 2019 Nexus Ghost 36DS not long ago. My last unit was a CAT powered NRC Freightliner. I haul a race car, golf cart, and Honda FIT around in a 3 axle stacker trailer. The Cummings diesel does a great job hauling it around, and it takes the hills like a champ here in California where we have 6% grades. I've had powerplants as big as 500hp CATs and 505 Detroits in motorhomes. Because of the extra weight of the drivetrain there isn't much difference except for a couple of miles per hour on the grades and horrible fuel mileage with the big power. To say that I'm extremely pleased with the Nexus in an understatement. I bought a 2019 because it has a 20,000 lb hitch and I need it. I have almost 6,000 miles on mine already.

Here it is...

2016 Nexus 36 DS for price point and features.

There is a cummins recall on the engine and that is being handled by the regional office designated by cummins owners website. Cummins is standing beside their product and replacing EMISSIONS EQUIPMENT on all the engines that are affected by inferior emissions equipment until Sept. of 2020.

if you have an engine manufactured between 2010-2015 you may want to register on the cummins owners website quickserve and find out the process for equipment replacement....not all engines were affected during this time frame. The only way to know is for an authorized facility to inspect your engine. TRP 2084

I've owned a Nexus 34 Ghost for two years. Made 7 trips and just returned from 4,000 mile trip to SW Colorado, S. Utah and Ca. A lot of mountain driving, 6-14% grades, etc.
DuraStar chassis, Cummings engine and Allison 3000 is a good fit for this coach.
I've owned five coaches (3 Born Free class C's, a Winnebago Class A and now the Ghost) so have something to compare to.
Born Free units by far best fit & finish but lacked power and room.
Winnebago DP was quietest and rode and drove well.
Ghost handling and ride about the same as DP, but more noise up front. Ghost has had a few annoying problems (biggest has been two leaking compartments) but relatively trouble free compared to the DP.
We pull a Jeep Wrangler. On a number of occasions I've put 600-700 miles on per day with minimum fatigue.

I just ran across this set of postings on Nexus and wanted to see if there is any updates to owners comments on Fit, and reliability? We are looking at the 32w which has the cummins 6.7 300 hp engine on the 24,500 chassis and the Alison 2500 6 speed trans. Is this enough engine and chassis for this coach? My wife does not like the Class A units so, we started looking at C's, then we saw the Super C's with the diesel engines. The 32w will fit in our RV garage with out any mods so that is why we started here. So, is there any owners out here with the 32w that can chime in on their experience... is the engine and chassis enough for this size unit? I know, MPG is not going to be great, but just would like to get a idea of what kind of MPG these things get... We currently pull a 26' TT with our 3/4 ton gas 2500 hd pickup on our last trip we got 9.1 mpg... so, that is where I am coming from.

Has anyone done a search on Nexus financials? Can they handle a down turn in the economy ... in past years alot of RV mfgs bit the dust in even the slightest recession.. so, that is of course concerning...

I have had my 2018 32W Wraith for 6 months and 7K miles so far. Love it. Going solo out to Moab 4k round trip I got 10.5 mpg. No issues going over the rockies. I also took it to Alanta and back and OBX and back. I tow a wrangler 4 wheels down with it.

This is our 5th coach, last one was a 45' Zephyr and a 40' DP before that.
The wraith is well built and runs well. I had cummins add a switch to turn on my exhaust brake. Works well.

I wouldn't be concerned about Nexus. The coach is built on a International chassis with a cummins and allison and those 3 aren't going anywhere soon.
Interior components are all built by other companies. In 26 years of Rving
we have had 3 truck campers, 1 5th wheel, and 5 coaches. I have never had an issue getting something fixed. Good luck.

ZB39, thank you so much for your quick response and experience, that is very encouraging especially after reading some of the other issues others have had. We have been using our TT for about 7 years (like you, we have had several RV's including a sport fisher) the TT has been a nice change since we already had the truck to pull it. This week while camping my wife and I talked about several MH's we saw and what would be look at.. we looked at the regular C then saw the Super C and decided to do some research.

We have one dealer here in the Nashville area, Bankston that sells the units and I think they have one we may go and look at. I am really interested in the learning more about the chassis and engine and what it takes to maintain and if there is a local service provider for the unit and what the upkeep costs are in regular service appointments.

Upkeep etc isn't bad at all. It is easy to do an oil and fuel filter change on a cummins. Get your shell roltella oil at walmart. Fleetguard filters can be bought online.

Has anyone installed an exhaust brake on the 36 ghost? This is a 2016 used ghost and we don't see any. All we have is drum brakes.

If it has a cummins 6.7 it should be easy. Take it to a cummins truck shop.
