Over cab bed repair

Hello everyone!

Just bought a new to us Class C Gulf Stream Ultra GT 2002. While cleaning it up we found water damage in the over cab bunk . My Husband has been tearing out the old wet rotted wood today. We know we have to fix the leak first. Tonight we are to get heavy rain, so that will tell us wear the trouble is. But he wanted me to post these photos and ask you all if the silver "framing" should be attached to the bottom (I assume it is the fiberglass). Also for the life of him he can't figure out how to remove the "header" for lack of a better term. Or if he even should. It is covered in the blue upholstery. I am inserting a few pictures.

Thank you all in advance!!
Lisa H

Because the cab and coach sections of Class C's flex differently with their frame mountings in relation to each other, leaks in the over head section are all too common. Because it is attached to both.
Several older posts , with pictures, from members doing similar repairs.
I'll track them down and tell you how to find them.
EDIT:
At the top of the posts list in the Class C forums, right hand corner of the blue bar; click search this forum. Drop box will open.

You would think those who make these Class-C RVs would have figured out how to design them ages ago not to leak. The 1993 Dutchmen we have was repaired some time in the past for leaks.
