Asking for permission from a church could be difficult. Aside from Sundays….theres not much info available for contacting someone for permission.

Have you checked into Harvest Hosts or Boondockers Welcome??

For a minimal annual fee, tons of places to stay aside from campgrounds.

You make connections ahead of actually arriving, but you know what to expect before arriving.

During my bicycle touring era. (1976-2008) rural churches were often accommodating to touring cyclists tenting over night on their grounds. I always left a few dollars as a donation. Whether that hospitality would continue today or extend to RV’ers is a good question.
I could see where a church could possibly benefit from an affiliation with Harvest Host.

We've stayed at several churches through Harvest Hosts. They've all been very nice to us. Parking lots vary immensely, of course, but I've found them to be safe and flexible to accommodate our needs. Some of the Harvest Host church locations even offer electricity and water. The HH coordinator at one church met us upon arrival, showed us the best locations to park, and delivered a goody bag with local info and some homemade cookies!

Knock on wood, we have not yet had a bad experience with overnight parking at a Walmart. We park with other RVers and trucks. We do it all the time when on trips in our motorhome and even sometimes during a roadtrip in our car.

Churches are often in residential areas. With the homeless issues in many areas it is possible, to even likely, that those residents will call the police when a strange vehicle is overnighting. While you see an RVer just getting some sleep those neighbors see Buffalo Bob trolling for a victim. RV parks, Walmarts, Cracker Barrels, Truck Stops, and a variety of government parks there are plenty of places to overnight. Residential areas should be off limits.

my go to place to overnight when I'm on the road is Cracker Barrel. Always covenant to a interstate, always safe, always quiet, and a great place to grab a dinner . Never had one say no, never had a problem.

We stayed at a Church through HH in NW PA, were invited to and accepted a Passover dinner invitation and had a wonderful time.

Highly recommend using Churches as HH travel spots if they are convenient.

We've used Harvest Hosts with mixed results . Most are miles off the Interstate, which is fine if we are not in a hurry .
I've found Casino's to be very accommodating and usually close to Interstate's . When all they have is dry camping there is normally no charge . Semi's are normally in an area away from the RV's , so no listening to Diesel's running all night .
We reciprocate by having dinner that evening and breakfast in the morning. Food is usually reasonably priced and reasonably good .
Yes , we budget a couple bucks for the one arm bandits, and more often then not , win enough to cover dinner and breakfast .
It's also a good place to learn local knowledge on what attractions are in the area .
