Portable Outside Grill Question.
I just purchased a Jayco Redhawk 24B Class C Motor Home. It came with a quick-connect outside propane connector. I was hoping I could buy a propane hose that would supply my portable gas grill designed to use the 1# throw-away propane cylinders. However, I was recently told that grills designed to use 1# cylinders have a regulator that won’t work correctly with the external connector because pressure is already at about 8 oz causing grill to run too cold. Any comments, suggestions?

When I ran into that problem, a gas fireplace store was able to supply what I needed...

Is your quick connect in front of or behind the RVs regulator?
If it's in front of it then your grill will work fine because it's receiving unregulated pressure.

Portable Outside Grill Question.
All the quick connects I have seen are behind the regulator so the pressure is already reduced. You can’t have another regulator in line before the grill.
If the regulator on the grill can be removed (many of them can), then you can adapt the hose.
I have both a grill and fire pit connected to my quick connect.

Personally, I prefer using a small, refillable propane tank in the 1 - 2 gal range with a "tree" attachment to allow connecting other appliances like a stove and lantern. This way you're not limited by hose length, tripping over it or the location of your quick disconnect. You can use your picnic table or campsite fire grill to hold your grill no matter where it is. In any case, I don't like the idea of having my portable grill too near my MH.
The only caveat is to have the small tank filled at the same time you're filling a larger tank since many or most LPG fill places have a minimum fee.

Don't fire up the grill and cook under your awning as there is potential heat damage waiting to happen.. Lot of people do, but is almost an accident waiting to happen. Like some others, I use a small 5 pound propane cylinder for my weber Baby Q. That way, I don't have to fuss with a bunch of disposable cylinders, The MBS Sprinter I have (trading it in next week for a Tiffen Class A) has the optional propane BBQ connection. Just had to buy another 6' hose so I could get out from under the awning. It is convenient to have the external LP connection.

You need to remove the regulator and install a quick connect male fitting and buy a propane hose with the female coupling. These hoses are readily available from RV or Gas Grill stores in 15' lengths. Buy 2 for extended length.
