I use 1, (or 2), small electric heaters to take the chill off when camping with shore power connected, but since the OP does NOT have "access to electric" that information does him no good.
When dry camping/boondocking I use a BTU Buddy Heater connected to a outside 20# propane tank/cylinder, (with a rubber LP hose run in through a window)
However in COLD weather, (when 9,000 BTUs will not heat the interior of my coach to a comfortable temperature), I also run my propane furnace.
