Proper sized wheels and tires for 78 Midas

Hello all,
I have recently taken ownership of a 1978 Midas 23'. The 16.5" tires are in desperate need of replacing and that means wheel swap as well. I am looking for folks thoughts on considering 16" or 17". Thanks so much in advance. Jeff

I think you will find by going with 16's you will have a larger selection of higher load rated tires to choose from than with 17". You should be able to find a 16" wheel and tire combination that will match the original setup in diameter and width.

100% agree. Focus on standard 16" wheels and tires. 16" steel wheels can be purchased from Rock Auto.

A good tire shop should be where you ask this question. They should be able to set you up with both tires and wheels that will duplicate your OEM performance. With todays supply chain issues, they can best advise you on what works and what is available. If I was looking, I would lean strongly toward known quality brands.
