Questions about preparing for winter driving

In early Jan. 2021 we want to leave Colorado and head to the Quartzite area. We've not traveled in the winter and I have questions about preparing our Class C 28' R-Vision for winter camping etc.

If you add water to your holding tank won't it freeze ? My tank is under my bed so I'm sure it won't freeze but the gray tank that is exposed to the elements would......??

Even the water lines inside the walls, next to the outside walls could possibly freeze I would think.

It would only be 1 or 2 days in cold weather before we land in a warmer climate but it's still 1 or 2 days. How do you, that travel in cold climates, prevent freezing?

I will be towing my Saturn and will not drive on slick roads...had my share of that growing up.

Thanks for any ideas you can share.

For your holding tanks pour a few gallons of the non- toxic " pink RV antifreeze" in the tanks .

For the fresh water tank we travel with only a 1/4 tank . It's more than enough for the toilet and hand washing during traveling. While driving , the water sloshing around in the tank will prevent freezing and it being located under the bed will help .

As to the plumbing pipes , as long as the interior is heated you shouldn't have any problems .

I do recommend pouring the RV Antifreeze in all the drain " P " traps , including the shower drain .
In the evening after using the sinks and showers during the day , refill the " P " traps with the antifreeze .

With you only being in cold weather for a couple days , you'll be fine.

Be aware , many states require a Motorhome to carry tire chains and you can be cited for noncompliance.

Be safe out there
