What a great topic this has been to read about. We currently have a 38' Class A and enjoy it. It's been a wonderful permanent snowbird location RV, like for 4-5 months....roomy, comfortable, easy to live in. But now, after 10 years of Snowbirding, we want to travel more of the USA, staying at National, State & County parks vs. the regular big rig travel parks.

So we are going to downsize to a Class C, Max length 27'. There would be times we tow the Jeep & at others want to take just the Class C, and at times rent a car instead if we want a "stay here" location for awhile.

Then there are the specific needs for us. My wife has severe spinal stenosis and weak legs from arterial bypass surgeries. We need a combination of specific needs all in one RV & it has been tough to find anything in that 27' or less category. We need the following & it's a challenge to find :

Minimal entry steps
Two recliners
Bed accessible from the side
Dinette or free standing table
Easy access bathroom & shower

Not asking for much, am I ? Any advice will be most welcome.

Had that problem with the passenger’s seat being unable to recline at all due to the forward dinette bench.
I fixed that. Removed the forward bench and replaced with two “nice” wooden folding chairs that can be stowed for travel.

My first suggestion would be to up the length a few feet. Feet matter in that size range.

Problem is the cab itself is short for the seats to recline. Does not matter the overall length of the rv. Where the box part starts is at the end of the cab. I'm 5'10 and can slide the seat toward some and recline the back enough to be comfy. If you are tall or have long legs, then its tight. Another 6 inches of cab length would be great.

I would never choose another 26 fleetwood/E450 Ford...bed is in cubby hole gotta crawl in on hand and knees and the drivers seat isn't very adjustable while driving!

Class c

I didn't realize everybody has new MHs, ours is 2001 Forest River-Sunseeker-31'-we have only had this one for only a year, first two were Class A MHs, the Class C is the same length as our Class As but everything is more accesable and parts can be had at auto parts stores-I have installed HD sway bars front & rear and had 5 degrees caster added-went to Fl and back around 3200 miles total- no problems except one drawer had to be repaired,TV didn't get good reception, put a King Antenna in and changed all the coaxial cables-added 7 new tires, changed tv to 32" smart TV
we pull a KIA Soul on Demco tow dolly, don't even know it is behind you-We can rate this MH a 8 -8.5 since it has served us well so far

I love my 1998 Safari 26’ Class C. I am a big guy and everything fits...bedroom, bathroom & kitchen... they are as big as I need. Chevy cab is comfortable. No slide, no problem! Bery good build quality, 4 coach batteries, hwh jacks, backup cam and an ice maker. A ton of storage, inside and out and 2 walk-in closets (well reach-in actually). Drives very well with the longer wheelbase ratio.

We bought a new 2018 Leprechaun 260ds and have nothing but problems. There is not enough room in the forum to name. I would get rid of it today if not for loosing money. Good thing I'm able to fix things otherwise it would be in the shop a lot and thanks to Jason from Coachman for sending me the parts.

Our 2009 Fleetwood Jamboree 31M was new to us in June 2018. Came to us from a single owner and 24K miles. In really good shape as was kept garaged all it's life.
Wife likes most of the floorplan.
We will likely replace the "sofa" with dual recliners as the sofa is pretty worthless for us.
Rate it a 8 to 9.

it sounds like what I need...any pictures you can share? Plenty of room to drive and recline a bit?

Hello Dick. My first time responding on IRV2, hope you see it. My husband and I just purchased a 2013 Coachmen Freelander 31ft. The31ftgave us a walk around queen bed which might be more comfortable and convenient for both of you. It has a very decent size shower with a pocket door that separates the bathroom from the living. It also has a really nice large counter and you can stand in the driver and passenger entries to the living area. It’s our first so limited with our knowledge.
Also, at 31 ft we’re good for the state parks.
This photo the two slides are in, so roomier with the super slide and bedroom slider out.

Bought a brand new 2018 Jayco 29mv, biggest piece of crap on 6 wheels. We have put 3,000 miles on it and have yet to have a trip without a problem. It's now waiting for repairs to the entire electrical system.
