Hold off a year, there will be many year old low mileage units for sale at bargain basement prices from all the people that are buying this year because of the covid19. By this time next year all those disillusioned buyers that realize this ain’t the life they expected will be dumping their RVs for their air fares to foreign countries again. Besides all the post delivery snafus will be taken care of and the initial 30% depreciation will have been absorbed by the first owner.

I agree, wait till next fall, maybe even sooner.
There will be a glut of 1 yr old Class A,B, C and tt for sale.
I wouldn’t over pay for a Class C.
They depreciate more than Class As
I would maybe pay a little less of a discount for a B+ especially if it was a Leisure Travel Van Unity. But that’s about it.
I’m just glad I made my purchase in March just when the virus hit and every business was in a panic for a short time.

Keep in mind that your new coach isn't the only expense you will have. Take 35% off of the list price and make your offer. If they say no then walk away. It is likely that they will follow you out, walk you back, then make a counter offer very close to your price. If they don't there are lots of other RV dealers to work with (and your dealer is well aware of that).

Local taxes are another large expense to consider so, unless you plan to full time, factor that into the amount of money you have available to spend on your new coach plus whatever else you will need to spend. I lived in Georgia at the time and planned to go full time, so I registered my Entegra in South Dakota. Low cost and very friendly "nomad" RV laws.

When I purchased my Entegra I negotiated that price plus my trade-in online. I didn't set foot in the dealership until we had an agreement. My deal was 35% plus $10 K more than I was willing to accept for my trade-in. I buy cars the same way with the same success.

I bought a new Aspect from a dealership in Davenport, Iowa in 2016.
I could not get warranty work done properly there.
I drove 180 miles to Forest City, Iowa to get the air conditioner and a cabinet face fixed under Winnebago warranty. I was told they were booked up for 5 weeks. They wouldn’t come out and look at it to order the cabinet face so it could be built, and be there when I came back.
I was told that I couldn’t leave it there either. I ended up fixing the wiring problem on the air myself. I sent the parts department pictures of the panel to be made. They ordered the wrong part twice. I had to disassemble the cabinets myself to give them the part numbers on the back. The third time was the right part. I repaired that myself.
When we first took our Aspect to Lichstinn RV, we were so frustrated that we picked out a new one. We were offered $60,000 for an RV we had bought for $100,000 less than a year before. I did not have a positive experience with this dealership. If you buy an RV, you should have tools and be mechanically inclined.
We still have our Aspect and I think I’ve goods the bugs out of it.
I don’t think I would ever buy a new one again.
I spent more time with it in the shop that first year than any camping trips. You will have a lot of warranty work, so buy it close to where you live.

Sounds good, but that leaves a lot of people out, including me as I am definitely not mechanically inclined. Yet we have had 5 RVs over the past 20 years or so and continue to enjoy travel.

What we do is just make sure that if we are buying a used RV then we also get some extended service plan to help pay for any work. If we buy new then we rely on the warranty to take care of any issues and make sure that we get all of the known issues taken care of before the warranty expires.

Even though I am not mechanically inclined we thoroughly enjoy our current RV and all of the previous ones as well.

I bought the worst RV of my lifetime, a Jayco product. I have owned about 20 motorhomes and don't even think about that brand. The best deal in the country is at Motor Home Specialists in Texas outside Dallas in Alvaredo. You CAN'T beat their prices. I believe they are the largest dealer in the country. Lewis Rv sales in Dayton Ohio is a small mom and pop operation that is known for selling Views for just over wholesale. Look them up, at least give them a call and get a price. 937-253-8816. I have known of many people, one as far away as Thailand that have bought new rigs from them because nobody else beat their price.

If I were going to spend $180,000 on one of the smallest RV's out there I'd would definitely go the SPORTSMOBILE route. YOU use their design sheet for exterior and interior and design it to your needs and specs. You can come back years later and update it, and new accessories. You choose what make van you want to use and the best part is you can get it in 4 wheel drive......that'll take you more places.

Interesting. I never knew there were customization shops for Class B RVs. But that does seem like a lot of money for a small Class B. I don't know how much they generally are now but when we looked at the Winnebago Era 2 years ago it was about half of that, and it was pretty well equipped.

If this is what you plan on doing just make sure there is no "prepayment penalty" on the loan. I know when I financed a truck with Ford Motor Credit in 2008 I had to keep the loan for 90 days otherwise I lost my $2,500 rebate I got for financing the truck. I know you won't be getting any rebate but just make sure you can pay the loan off early without incurring a penalty. Even if you have to keep the loan for 90 days it can still be a good deal, and in the case of a motor home it should get you more than $500 off the price. Good luck and please let us know what happens I'll be in the same place in a few months.
