Renting out my motorhome
Thinking about renting out our RV for some additional income.
Would love to hear pros/cons or any advice from those who have.
My biggest concern is that we have a maintenance agreement with Good Sams for 3 more years and am not sure the impact renting has on that voiding that plan. The second concern would be insurance and whether I would need a different insurance policy.
Best,
Josh

Not to mention hw others take care of something that is VERY expensive and is not theirs. Not to mention that they might have never driven one before.
I wouldn't do it for anything. Don;t want others messing with my equipment.
Just my opinion .
Good luck!!
I looked into renting one before I purchased one and it was $4500 for 14 days dry rental. I laughed in his face as I was leaving!

No way will I rent out my RV to anyone. We have worked as camp host and seen firsthand the way rental units are treated by the renters.
First you will have an insurance issue to check on.
Next, your GS warranty probably excludes commercial (rental) use.
Then you will have to remove all of your personal items from the RV before a rental.
Then, how will you handle a breakdown or flat to get the renter back on the road?
What recourse will you have to repair damage beyond the deposit on the rental.

I would never consider renting my motorhome. However, some people do and Good Sam itself actually has private motorhomes for rent so, the insurance issue must be accommodated in some manner.

If I were do go down that path which I would not, to me for one RV rental total cost and financial exposure outweighs the benefit, but if I were too I would establish a Limited Liability Company, and place the RV in the name of the company to protect my personal assets if something goes amiss and you are hit with a lawsuit.

There are some co-op rental companies that manage the process. Contracts, customers, insurance, cleaning, etc. I rented from one a LONG time ago, so I don't have any info. Look around online...

Three words…DON’T DO IT!
The revenue you generate will not come anywhere near covering the costs (financial and emotional) you will incur.

Here’s an alternative - we rented our RV on Airbnb as a stationary unit remaining on our land. It was a positive experience and gave us more control than if we allowed someone to drive away.

I have considered this once or twice but then every time I take a trip I come home with a list of things I should fix because of wear, stupidity or whatever. But I know what I have to do and enjoy the repair/upgrade.
Getting the rig back from a renter would be like inspecting a used rig for purchase. What did they do? Did they break anything? Is anything missing?
Too much stress for me.

I won't loan or rent our rig to our sons, my siblings, extended family, or close friends to protect our relationships.
It also goes without saying that I would never trust our rig in the hands of a stranger.
