Replacing Batteries

Should I replace the engine battery at the same time as the coach battery? I was told this a few years ago, but want to see the opinion on forum.

NOPE!! is the short answer. Here's the longer answer.

Wet cell batteries tend to last based on how they are depleted (drained) and recharged. Since the cranking (engine) battery's function it to only (crank) start the engine and the RV (coach) batteries supply power to all i12-V aspects of the coach while driving and parked then they will decline in ability at a different rate.

Should you replace the Chassis battery just because the HOUSE needs replacement, or the other way around?

Well.. You can,, but why?
First: both house and Chassis batteries IF WELL MAINTAINED typically have about the same life 7-10 years,, Some last longer, and especially in the case of HOUSE many don't make it. House batteries are often seriously abused (Run down too far, not properly "Watered" with Distilled water as needed, if needed and so on) Chassis batteries thus often last longer since the maintenance is more "Automatic" on that side.

That said. On my house they all failed within a few months of each other.. First the chassis, then the house.

But I'd not replace any battery before its time.
