Replacing love seat on a slide

We have removed the small couch that came with our RV. We went looking to replace with a double recliner. We have enough width but all the ones we find are a few inches longer than the depth needed for wallhuggers. Is it ok to bolt down with a few inches hanging over the slide floor?

Yes. We did just that. Has worked fine with no issues for five years.

Didn't bolt ours down. We use the seat belts when traveling to hold them in place. We can pull them out and turn them so they face the.

La-Z-Boy Recliners in Newmar Bay Star

It's OK for something to hang over the edge of the slideout. That's the way my current Flexsteel Jacknife sofa is installed in my Newmar Bay Star. It hangs about 4" over the edge of the slideout.

We have ordered a pair of La-z-boy "Collage Reclina-Rockers" to install in the slideout. These are smaller sized rocker recliners. We custom ordered them so that the Recline-Handles can be on opposite sides. We will tie them in the slideout using the existing seatbelts. My slide out is not a flush floor design. It rides about 2" inches above the main RV floor level. Once we get to our destination, I will place a 2" high platform in front of the slideout to support the chair base. The platform will extend the size of the slideout about 9 to 12". I will install some kind of latch to hold the platform to the slideout.

The platform dimensions are a little fuzzy at this point. I am waiting for the recliners to arrive before I finalize the platform design. I may make the platform in two pieces so that it will be easy to handle and store.

I had to use this approach because my slideout is only 19" deep and rides 2" above the main floor.

Regards, Jerry
