Running Magic Chef 10.1 on an inverter
I recently installed a magic chef household 10.1 cu ft refrigerator to replace the headache norcold but in the owners manual it said not to run on an inverter, has anyone had any issues with running the magic chef on an inverter?

My guess is that you will need to be sure to have a “pure full sine wave inverter” or the fridge will not be happy.

Installed my 9.9 cuft Magic Chef back in 2017 using a PSW inverter to power it with no problems.

Manual clearly states:
This refrigerator is not designed to be used with an inverter
No clarification WHY?
Suspect a Modified Sine Wave Inverter would not work
*Chucky, square waves
A PURE sine wave inverter should present no issues
*Smooth, even, arching waves just like the AC Shore/Generator Power

Magic Chef went even further for my model - "This unit is not designed to be installed in an RV or used with an inverter. This unit is intended for household use only".

This gets then off the Warranty hook.. so if it dies, drag it back into the garage then call them that your beer got warm...
AS far as a good inverter.. it is fine and if sized proper you are golden.. They are not saying that use in a solar fed house is bad,, ????
the issue with RV's also is the bouncing of compnents that are possiblly designed for stable stationay use.. and the off / on storage and cycling when in RV use.. They are made to be on and left on......
I have used residential , apartment size for years in my shuttle bus RV, 12 years and fine, new owmner has no issues either, saw him last week,,

Sweetbriar-
I just installed a 10.1 cubic-foot Frigidaire (model FFET1022UB). By appearance, I would not be surprised if your unit is the similar to mine, except for badge. So, I'll ask: What size, make and model inverter did you install?

Xantrex Prowatt SW2000. Used two Xantrex Auto Transfer Switch (convenient package of a 15 amp double pole double throw relay) to switch power. More watts than I need for just the fridge but I'm using the inverter for other needs and wants.

You’re Welcome!
BTW I am into my third year with this setup and no issues so far.
Inverter does a good job while we are on battery power and the Frigidaire has performed well.

Watched some months ago a youtube running small rv (800-watt?) microwave on 2k Inverter vs shoreline at 120vac; you could HEAR the decreased performance on Inverter, and temperature change verified the Inverter POWER LOSS (from memory, about 20%??) If talking residential refrig, I would expect compressor problems? If a 2-way RV refrig, a Heating element may not see any difference?

I've loaded my inverter up to 1600 watts (80% of capacity) just to see what it could do. Output dropped 2 VAC (1.2%) and the only sound change from was the fans coming on.
Not everything on the internet is what it presents itself as.

I decent inverter , pure sine with PROPER sized battery cables, and GOOD batteries will hold the designed load..
fridge compressor has a high sharp startup of amps on some units..But modern GOOD fridges have low power comsumption during a normal cycle.. You can see the compressor spike when the system humidity dryer is on and ice maker is cycling all at the same time.. Still a 1500-2000 watt running inv is still more than enough..
MY 2000watt Pure sine wave, "asian" unit, will start and run my 13.5K AC with 3 group 29/31 batteries.. Not that I do that on purpose since they will only last maybe an hour.. My system with transfer switch allows AC on all 3 sources.. Shore, Genny, Inv..
I have a HF older 1500 mod sine INV , I used in another trailer.. It spikes hard with a small apt size / fridge-freezer when it cycles at times.. Same fridge on a pure sine AIMS 1500 , runs with no flickers .. The AIMS worked well for me until a friend back feed it with a genny cord, by mistake, dont ask...
