Storage options in 31 foot class C

We are ready to buy a 31 foot +/- class c gas for a 3 month journey in CO and environs. We don't want a toad. Where do others find a way to store camping gear, folding chairs, extra clothes etc.

I envision a rack for bikes on front of RV and a large storage box on the rear bumper...bulky lightweight items. Opinions and comments would be appreciated.

I'm solo in a 28' Class C. I carry a small Honda on a back hitch ramp, a mountain bike, lots of tools, I like a full water tank, I have too much stuff in general and want more . . .

So I've been looking at a small (5x8) enclosed trailer like the one linked:

https://www.trailersplus.com/Minneso...C0814MM000012/

Class C's are usually already close to fully loaded (in weight) when they're empty. I'm thinking this small trailer - easy to pull, light enough to just lift off - will serve my needs. No more stuff "stored" on top of the beds or chairs, more room, and maybe a better ride.

(P.S. When you said "no toad", I assumed a vehicle. If you also mean no trailer, sorry.)

A 31 foot class C should have plenty of storage if you learn to bring what you really need, the chairs can hang on the back ladder with the patio chair carrier they sell on line for RV's, the bikes would do better on a bike rack in back, you don't want a box with heavy stuff in the back it could cause the rear leaf springs to be over loaded and cause more sway, try and load the RV front of the rear axle not behind the axle.

Go light weight as much as you can, do you really need all that extra stuff.. [bring what you know you will use and leave the other stuff behind]

I have been RVing for many years now and learned to never over pack..

We had a 26.5 winnebago and it had a large storage area. We did buy a hitch cargo carrier for long extended trips. It held a lot. Now we have a 29 foot freedom elite. It has very good cargo space. Not tested it due to covid and her need for some surgery. But being in our 70's hope to get a jab for covid and give it a go.

What brand & model are you considering?.

Have you examined any coaches in person to view the storage?. This might help you choose what best fits your needs. Some class C's have tall storage at the back that accepts upright bikes.

Is it a "basement" model? they usually have several storage compartments and might accommodate golf bags.

Does it have a drop down bed over the driver/passenger seats?. If so, lower this a little and create additional storage on the bed.

Is there a flip-out sofa? these usually have space underneath.

Good hunting. The search for the best motorhome for you can be fun

IMHO, this might be a Smart $$$$ spent - as in Colorado you will need a Toad to see and enjoy the Mountains, Not to mention the Golf Courses.

In Florida - priced right - might just work.

In the Twenty Two (22) years of driving in our Coach - we always just bring the Toad - makes life Easier. -

Put the Clubs and the Chairs in there and you are ready for your trip.
