Thinking of buying a 99 Gulfstream 30'

Gulf Stream ultra 30'. 60k miles. Looks well maintained. Stored outdoor under full cover with wheel covers. Has maintainable records. Going to test drive this week. Bought from used dealer in 14'. New tires in 14' new batteries in 15'. Asking price 17k. What do you think ball park range of one of these in good to excellent condition?

I would have a qualified RV techition check out all of the RV systems and have a mechanic check the engine. If they are selling it because they bought another RV, I would be suspicious. If you aren't handy I wouldn't suggest a coach older than 5 years. Older coaches need a lot of TLC and maintenance

I would take a good look. I think you can probably get it for less but if it looks well maintained it probably is. We bought an 05 Jamboree last year and have had very few problems. Great luck to you!

Don't pay more than 12K. RV is almost 30 years old. Lots can go wrong.

Maintenance and usage can have such a big effect on the price. Being that the current owner has only owned for a few years( if I understand correctly), it's kind of hard to really know how it's been used previously. I do agree with the $12,000 figure but also know if it looks to be very well maintained and such that you may have to be willing to go upwards. Tires and batteries are about halfway through their expected life so can't be a really big selling point. But, it's nice to know the tires will last you a few years with no issue.

Thanks for all advice. I offered 12 k. It looked in good general shape. Needs a new generator. Other than that, looked good.

Not much to go wrong with the generator that cannot be repaired. I assume an Onan. Not sure when Genrac got out of the RV biz, but if a Genrac, yes, repairing it would be dicey as parts are hard to get and most people don't know anything about them.

Have to agree the generator is easy fix but might have to drive 100 miles or more to get it done. The repair place in South Bend has free camp spots while you wait for repairs. Mine took a day and a half.

Probably Cummings Onan

I bought a 2000, 30ft, Class C, Gulfstream, Yellowstone, Country Coach with 16,000 miles, from a small dealer, for $14,000 in mid 2014.

The generator had 6 hours on it and it ran and still does perfect.

There is some water damage in the cab overhead that I still need to get to. It's only used for storage.

I replaced all 4 brake calipers, along with the brake fluid, and the front rotors. The caliper boots were disintegrating and the rotors were warped. Pads were like new.

Replaced the 6 year old tires in 2015 due to cord separation. Last fall I replaced the rear differential ABS sensor. This spring I replaced the engine thermostat. Everything else is original and now have 40,000 miles on it.

I had detailed service records but found them incomplete. There was no mention of 1 front caliper being replaced although it obviously was.

$17,000 seems high to me. Maybe it's in brand new condition and worth it to you.
