Thor Tiburon

Was at the RV show in Tampa this weekend. Saw a Thor Tiburon that caught my eye. Going to Tampa Thursday to discuss particulars and test drive. I heard mixed reviews on Thor’s. In my limited RV experience (3 years) and reading dozens of posts it seems that all manufacturers and models have issues. Any feedback good bad or indifferent would be appreciated.

If your handy and not a perfectionist, the Thor is an OK RV. The fit and finish is not top of the line. Cost cutting things like molding are pin nailed and you can see the heads.

I have a 2017 Thor Axis for 3 years now and its been fine, with 6 month snowbird trips.

I had some screws rusting and breaking on the slide out trim. Water got to them from bad caulking. Replaced them with stainless and re-caulked.

The shower floor was flimsy for my weight and flexed. Over time, the drain would get loose, leaking water. I resupported the floor. Had to gut the whole shower to remove the base to fix it.

Stove burner mounting screws were stripped. Easy fix.

They skimp on drawer slide screws. With missing screws, the slide tracks twist on the bigger, heavier drawer. On the fix list.

Third winter in it and the jack knife couch, fake leather, arm rest is showing wear.

They used cheap hose on the water tank fill and it dripped. Easy fix.

I bought it used from a dealer and haven't taken it back for anything. I don't mind fixing it because I know it's right.

A bit late in the conversation, but I'd suggest subscribing to this FB Group:
Thor Delano & Tiburon RV Owners. About 180 members. It's a "private" group, but there are no restrictions.

Overall the feedback from the group is about 50/50 on fit/finish and issues. There are complaints about minor things that folks will always gripe about, but there are also issues of concern:
  • Windows - The house windows have fallen out of a number of these units. It's not a recall yet, but they're aware and replacing as folks are bringing them in.
  • Sprinter seats - One had the harness wiring sheared when sliding the seat back and forth. On another, the harness was never connected.
  • Murphy Bed - A few motors on the Murphy Bed model were defective.
  • Air Conditioning - Units needed to be replaced.
  • OCCC - This is a big concern on these units. The total GVWR is 11030. Some Thor and Delano models with added auto jack levelers as options can leave only about 700 pounds for people, pets, all fluids and cargo.

I purchased a 24RW with levelers and diesel generator. I love the new Mercedes feature on the 3rd generation Sprinter. Six speed transmission, all the distronic driving assist feature and the wonderful MBUX infotainment system with a 10" touch screen display.
I also love the Euro-design on the cabinetry and furnishings. It's a nice compliment to the new Sprinter features.
