Towing toad with Ford E450 Class C
What's folks opinion and experience about towing a toad with a Class C based on the Ford E450 with the V-10? A preferred toad?

I have towed the following with Ford E450 V10:
2008 Honda Civic

2006 Jeep TJ
2003 Toyota Tacoma Xtra Cab (current toad)
No problem(s) at all.

Check the hitch rating. Often times the long class Cs have frame extensions that limit the towing to 3500 lbs.
Plenty of toads under that weight. I dolly towed a Kia Soul and a Jeep Renegade with my 2000 30 ft C.

Jeep Wranglers make great toads!
Child's play for the V-10. Check your specs for weight totals.

We tow a Subaru Impreza with our Winnebago Aspect 26A. No problem, other than I would advise you to have the receiver reinforced by having it welded to the frame. Most are bolted on, as was ours. We hit a dip in the pavement on the interstate in Texas (at 65mph) and bent the receiver. Most Class C receivers are rated at only 350lbs tongue weight.
Other than that, hardly know it's there.

My 27U has no issues with my F150 supercrew. Traveled from Illinois to west coast and back last year and had zero issues going through the mountains.

A little off topic but relevant.
I have a 2001 Itasca E450
I have thought about towing a toad but haven't done it yet.
Where could I take my rig to have someone inspect the hitch and frame and verify it can tow 3500 or 5000 LBS.
My rig is 20 years old and I would like to know it is still structurally sound to tow what it was designed to tow.
thanks for any input.

Kip,
I know my coach is different, but here is what I did in order to pull an 8K# enclosed car hauler with confidence. My hitch was attached to frame extenders with 5 huck nuts on each side, and it hangs down almost 12". A lot of leverage there rocking back and forth. I used 2 x 2 x 1/4" angle and grd 8 bolts to add a lower strut up to the real frame. I now tow with confidence.
Maybe you could do something similar. I would need to see how yours is attached.

I would take it to a good welding shop and have them look at it and reinforce. As I said above, I had our hitch welded to the frame after it failed towing our Subaru. There are a lot of forces at play here; vertical, horizontal, twisting. I don't trust bolt on hitches any longer.
Cost me about $300 or so to have them box it in and weld everything. Welder told me, "don't be afraid to use it".

Towing with a Ford E450 V-10
I have towed the following vehicles 4 wheels down with my 2006 Jayco Greyhawk on a Ford E450 chassis with the V-10 engine:
2008 Mercury Mariner hybrid
2012 Ford Focus
2012 Ford Fusion hybrid
2014 Lincoln MKZ hybrid
2019 Ford Fusion Energi (plug-in hybrid)
I have a welded 10,000 lb. rated hitch on my motorhome. No problem towing any of the vehicles, some of which weighed nearly 4,000 lbs.

That is too general a question. In order to determine what you can pull, you need to look at the exact model. Many of the Fords can pull quite a number of vehicles, but you need to look at:
The hitch rating
What weight you can pull.
Determine the weight you can pull by using the following calculation:
GCWR - GVWR
For these smaller RVs, you can assume you will be close to your GVWR.

My question was directed at driver's experience and preferred toad, not what it can do. My question was point on.
I already know the RV is rated to tow up to 7,500 lbs from the door label and spec sheets. Lots of room there for most toads.
