Trans temp gauge

Do you think it should be a plus to have an trans temp gauge on a Ford V10, if so is it a pita to install ?
Thanks

If you connect a Scan Gauge to the ODB port, you can program trans. temp. to display.

Same as above, have the Scan Gauge on mine with the trans temp. And gives a backup for almost all gauges plus many extras.

Another vote for the Scan Gauge. It's cost will be offset as you won't be buying a gauge, fittings, ect. Simple plug n play, and the addition of many other functions.

Another vote for Scan Gauge. Like to monitor engine temp and voltage. Ford's gauges are not much more than idiot lights

I'm a bit confused about the first part of the question. What would be the minus? It's ALWAYS a plus to have information. How you do that (gauge, scangauge...) is up to you.

OH and the install, takes longer to read the instructions than it does to install. On mine I had to key in the numbers for the TFT and again reading the instructions took longer than the key in.

I suppose the minus would be the expense of buying a gauge.

I have one and I'm a gauge type guy, but I don't monitor the trans temp anymore. It basically followed the water temp anyway.

Thumbs up Another vote for a Scan Gauge

Get the Scan Gauge, you will not regret it for a number of reasons. If you utilize the real time and average mpg displays it will quickly pay for itself in terms of better mileage. My mileage improved by 10% on the first trip I took with it. Just strive to keep your real time mpg higher than your average and your right foot will quickly learn to be more efficient.

I also always run with the trans temp displayed and no, it does not just follow the coolant temps. If you forget to engage the Tow Haul even a slight grade will send the trans fluid temps climbing. Engage TH and watch your trans fluid temps drop significantly. If you are not utilizing the Tow Haul mode you are slowly but surely cooking your transmission as the SC will clearly demonstrate.

The Scan Gauge is capable of a couple of dozen different displays and if your engine ever trips a code the SC will read it for you. As noted the install is a no brainer that takes all of about 5 minutes

Right, mine with the 5-star tune shows 18 gallons per hour at full throttle pulling pass's. Lucky most are 5-10 minutes, even though it seems like hours. This is one reason I look at the trans temp the motor temp, fuel flow, and outside temp. Let's me know at a glance what the RV is doing and why, also shows in the winter an indicator of possible ice.

With a little work it will fit into the coin holder and the cord up behind the dash.
