Cool Travel Preferences

If you own a Class C or B:

*What type of speed do you normally cruise at on the interstate?

*Approximately how many hours driving time do you regularly drive?

*Do you use cruise control normally?

*How often do you regularly pull into a rest stop or do you drive until you are feeling tired?

*Do you often use restaurants or do you eat in your motor home?

*At an RV Park do you use their facilities or the motor home's?

Just curious what the average is for these activities.

Thanks,

Old Guy Dave

*If you own a Class C or B
B+ Phoenix Cruiser at 23'-8" long, plus towing Jeep Liberty
-----
*What type of speed do you normally cruise at on the interstate?
67-68 mph, towing or not, slower if speed limits apply
-----
*Approximately how many hours driving time do you regularly drive?
This varies all over the place. When cross-country, max of 16 hours with numerous stops, some extended.
-----
*Do you use cruise control normally?
Yes
-----
*How often do you regularly pull into a rest stop or do you drive until you are feeling tired?
Always when feeling tired, an average of 2 hours on a boring open road (less if drinking coffee)
-----
*Do you often use restaurants or do you eat in your motor home?
50/50 when in-transit
80% in the RV at destinations in NPs and NMs, assuming there are some decent places to eat.
-----
*At an RV Park do you use their facilities or the motor home's?
We use restrooms for #2 exclusively, #1 based on convenience, showers & wash-ups exclusively in the RV
-----
*Just curious what the average is for these activities.
Not sure of your question
Our trips are between 2 and 4 weeks, usually involving cross-country driving.

If you own a Class C or B:
We own a Jayco 24B Class C Ford E450 with V10. Length is actually 27'.

*What type of speed do you normally cruise at on the interstate?
On our last (3000mile) trip we probably ran around 62mph on the interstate.

*Approximately how many hours driving time do you regularly drive?
About 6 hours on the road. This is total time which includes stops at rest areas, convenience stores for gasoline and restroom breaks.

*Do you use cruise control normally?
On flats we use cruise control. When it gets hilly or transmission starts hunting gears it gets turned off.

*How often do you regularly pull into a rest stop or do you drive until you are feeling tired?
Depends on how the drive on any given day i.e. windy or road ruts/roughness we more than likely use the rest areas more than on a smooth driving day.

*Do you often use restaurants or do you eat in your motor home?
We tend to eat in our motor home

*At an RV Park do you use their facilities or the motor home's?
Nine out of ten times we us our own in the motor home.

Just curious what the average is for these activities.

My old Class C, 60ish MPH. New E450, Small Class A 65 MPH.

Max driving 6 hours a day. Take coffee, lunch, coffee, breaks.

Cruise Control, every chance I can.

95% of the time we eat home ( RV ) prepared meals. Never stop at restaurants while traveling.

These cheeks only sit on my toilet, unless its an emergency. That's what its for.

I bought a motorhome so I wouldn't have to use other peoples stuff. I could use a van, just for sleeping.

Speed: I generally travel right at the speed limit.

Hours: No more than 4 hours a day if at all possible.

Cruise: During dry weather, yes

Rest areas: Not regularly

Restaurants: Not happening during Covid.

Facilities: Mostly use ours, except maybe for a shower.

As far as hours driven, a pleasant older gentleman once told me, enjoy the trip, never drive more than 200 miles a day, Don't drive 2 days in a row, & arrive at camp before 2:00, that's cocktail time!

Good info that gives me ideas on what to expect when I do finally purchase a Class C.

My thoughts are take it slow as you're not in a marathon race and utilize your MH for all instances that you can.

Thanks All

*What type of speed do you normally cruise at on the interstate?
60-62 is comfortable and that way I don't catch up to other vehicles and I can even enjoy the scenery a bit.

*Approximately how many hours driving time do you regularly drive?
Depends, we try to keep our days easy so on easy days it's 4 - 5 hours. If we're on a mission 8 - 10.

*Do you use cruise control normally?
Every chance I get. Our class A gasser was mostly never but this one works great.

*How often do you regularly pull into a rest stop or do you drive until you are feeling tired?
Drive until we're tired or want to stop to eat.

*Do you often use restaurants or do you eat in your motor home?
Both

*At an RV Park do you use their facilities or the motor home's?
Depends, if the showers are clean we will use them only.

See responses in quote below......

QUOTE=Floridastorm;5540720]If you own a Class C or B:

We have Fleetwood Tioga Class C 24D , 25' overall.

*What type of speed do you normally cruise at on the interstate?

60-65 it provides the best fuel economy for our MH

*Approximately how many hours driving time do you regularly drive?

We usually go 4-6 hours . We use an average of 50 mph x hours to determine distance traveled for that day. 4-6 hrs = 200-300 miles
We have driven as far 600 miles in a day.

*Do you use cruise control normally?

Only when we are on long stretches of flat road . In the mountains we use the tow/haul mode.

*How often do you regularly pull into a rest stop or do you drive until you are feeling tired?

Usually we only use rest areas to dump the holding tanks.

*Do you often use restaurants or do you eat in your motor home?

Breakfast and lunch in the MH , dinners are 50/50 in or out.

*At an RV Park do you use their facilities or the motor home's?

Depends on the Parks condition of their facilities.

Just curious what the average is for these activities.

Do Interstate rest stops have dump stations?[/QUOTE]

Florida storm ,

We do in the great State of Washington. Usually 4 dump stations per Rest Stop and they are free .

They are well kept with wash/rinse hoses at each station.

Best thing is there's one 3 miles from the house !

Yes, as often as possible.

Lunch and breakfast in RV, sometimes eat out at dinner.

60-65

*Approximately how many hours driving time do you regularly drive?
I prefer to go by mileage. Generally, I try to kept it under 300 miles per day, 400 is the maximum for me if I am hurrying to get somewhere. As my Beagle is a lousy navigator and an even worse driver, I do all the driving.

*Do you use cruise control normally?
As often as I can

*How often do you regularly pull into a rest stop or do you drive until you are feeling tired?
Rest areas are typically to walk the dog or if I need to go to the bathroom. I only use the restroom in my RV, even when at a rest stop. I know who cleaned what and how well.

*Do you often use restaurants or do you eat in your motor home?
Generally I eat/cook in my RV. That said, I am not adverse to stopping for a nice big breakfast occasionally.

*At an RV Park do you use their facilities or the motor home's?
I only use the facilities in my RV. They are clean and convenient.

Just curious what the average is for these activities.

400-600 miles. (I have limited vacation time, so generally want to get where I'm going fairly quickly.)

*Do you use cruise control normally?

Yes.

*How often do you regularly pull into a rest stop or do you drive until you are feeling tired?

I try to stop every couple hours, but have gone as long as 4 hours.

*Do you often use restaurants or do you eat in your motor home?

Motorhome, except when traveling.

*At an RV Park do you use their facilities or the motor home's?

We always use the campground facilities for showers. Our shower holds the laundry basket. Cleaning up after the kids' showers got to me, and they use too much water. (We're a family of 5.)
