Triton V10 performance upgrade module

Has anyone used this upgrade - SCTflash performance module? It gives good horsepower and torque upgrade. Most importantly it helps the shift points on the Triton V10.

Not sure if this will help you. It's being discussed in the Ford Chassis forum. https://www.irv2.com/forums/f23/ford...ts-503104.html

I think it's a waste of money. When I had my 36' Holiday gasser had a friend that had a 34' Georgie Boy with one of those. He was always bragging about the extra power, until we went on a trip together. I was pulling the motor cycle trailer, him nothing. I passed him on every hill he went up. At gas stops we were always within a couple $ of fuel.

If you have the 5 speed transmission it does work great, I had a 2008 Class A 33 foot with the 5 speed transmission and hated how it down shifted from 5th to 2nd in the mountains but after installing the 5 Star Tuning it shifted from 5th to 4th than to 3rd and held, would even hold 4th for a little bit sometimes.

However if you already got the 6 speed like I do now in my class C I don't see where it would help a lot, but it might.

I don't know about this particular performance chip, but the 5 STAR TUNE was definitely NOT a waste of money!

AT $500 5 Star was worth very penny. Our 2015 V-10/5 speed on the F-53 chassis had an awful shift pattern with the RPMs roaring to near 4000 just to go over an overpass. After loading the 5 Star Tune there was a small increase in RPM that was hardly noticeable. We always towed a Jeep Unlimited & the performance was great.
Also, 5 Star will customize the chip if you want it adjusted, great customer service.

Go on line & read the reviews from 5 Star Tune owners, it's top notch! If the SCT Tuner does as good you'll save some money, but I'd highly recommend a performance chip.

Happy camping.

Dave

I agree with jackreno here. All that I have read on various forums stated that if you had the older, 5 speed tranny, then this worked OK. If you had the newer 6 speed, no real difference.

Let's see, $500 by divided $3 gal is 1200 miles. Just push the pedal down a little further to get the same effect. Tuners do not get any better MPG.

As an owner who actually has installed the update, (about 30,000 miles ago) yes it does dramatically help the shift points of the 5 speed transmission used for model year 2006 thru 2015 which was the focus of my purchase.

Regarding advertised horsepower or torque gains, if there were gains I really didn't notice. My coach has a fairly low normal weight at around 16,750 lbs on a Cat Scale so I've always had what I felt is reasonably good hill climbing performance and fuel mileage. If an owner reports performance gains good for them but I wanted the changes to the transmission shifting.

I'll won't get the cost back when the day comes that I sell the coach but having the option available to a knowledgeable potential buyer should add some curb appeal.

Did it on our 2019 E350. Original Ford trans shift points are terrible. On cruise even worse. Felt as if the engine was going to rev right back into our dining room on the MH. Crazy in the mountains. Power is the same. MPG the same. We'd do it again.
