Want the dome light to stay on.

I put swivel seats on my 2017 E450 chassis. Then I added 2 LED reading lights where the dome light was (they also have switches) . However, now my problem is that the relay? that works those lights shut the power off after about 5 minutes. I thought if you put the dimmer switch all the way up, the lights would stay on. Nope. Would like to read more than 5 minutes at a time. Anyone know an easy fix? Could rewire but that's a lot of work. Must be controlled by some relay?

On my Chev 4500 Chassis when I turn the dash lights brightness all the way clockwise, I encounter a detent (soft stop) that is not the full rotation stop.

If I keep turning clockwise past the detent, the dome light will stay on.

It is that way on both of our cars too.

Well the problem is solved. As was suggested I turned on the key fully counter clockwise, then shut off the radio, Turned up the dimmer switch to the detente and the dome lights now stays on. I really did not want to rewire. By the way... Ford dome light was crap. Two LED reading lamps is a nice cheap upgrade. Click image for larger version

They look great. I have the same plan and already have the seats swiveling. We love the seats turned to add seating.
